TAI Class for 2008 BG Nationals

JD I thought of you. Didn't see a cage in your TTA. I guess the rule has to be on paper. BG attendance would really dwindle if they enforced all rules. Julio, anything different we should know about?

Man its like this, If I say they wont enforce the rules and they do.. then i'm the bad guy. If things are like from years past.. then its a dont worry. I'm there to help co-ordinate the class.. get the cars into the lanes after each round.. keep track of who's running what for the next round.. and setting things up with the track officials. That in itself is a full time job especially at that track with all thats going on that day. I did it two years ago..

If you plan on running 9's with your car then complain the track kicked you out becuase you didnt have a helmet, jacket, license, and bar.. then what can I say. This track in the past has been easy going.. but that doesnt mean they will be like this forever.

If your car will run 10's.. and you plan on running 10's.. you really need to step up on the roll bar deal and be done with it. That way you can race at any track in the country and not worry about being told to "slow it down.. or else".

Let alone race at an event in a class that requires going round after round after round... Not simply a test and tune and make one "hit" and park the car.

If the car is slower than 11.50's.. then all you need is a good helmet and a drive shaft loop.

Two years ago the prize was plaques.. last year cash and plaques.. this year the $$$ is going up.. and see what happens. The higher payout is designed to bring in more serious enthusiasts. When's the last time you ran in a class with a $1k+ for payout.

No more safety equipment questions please.. this is something you need to handle and make your own decisions on. Those that regularly race deal with this on a constant basis.

Have a great day.

For those that dont like to "hyper link"

5) Turbo size limit is 75MM.

Peer tech and fill up will be done at a host gas
station Friday May16th in the AM. Weight will be
checked after every round

I can get back in...

here is my imput on cages .. some tracks will let things slide .. depends what kinda mood they are in  Melissa has been kicked out of 2 .. We saw "other" cars running just as fast without the safety stuff and no one said anything  At Cecil County we teched in fine .. then after every few runs tech guys would come over and look at the car  After she ran a 9 sec run they told her to slow it down ... soooooo she tried to use the trans break .. made a 10.20 @138 run.. hey its slower than a 9 sec run :p next time she went up and did her burnout ...staged the car.. then they stopped her and kicked her out !! Guess they didn't like the 138+ mph  NOW she did have a cage BUT not the front part that goes by the windshield and dash!! Came home and "Mom" decided she is goin 138 and she needed the rest of the bar for "MELISSA'S" safety.. so we are legal now .. Ya have to remember goin 135+ is kinda moving.. IF something happeneds it can get really ugly really quick!!

I hear ya Julio, I'm a trend-data man. If I pull up the trends for all the times they've checked for cages in BG, I should be good to go. :D
Dan you got a point. I'm stepping up to a steel crank and girdle so the stock crank dosen't come flying out. Oil's gotta go somewhere.

Ya bracket classes.
I really dont care,WIth a Hybrid I no longer need to cry about rules for any class.
Im not gonna run the BPG class either,Index racing is as bad a bracket racing.
See ya for test and tune!:)

Yep, you said it. Should have kept your GN, you would have been further ahead with that car rather than build another.

I will find it more fun to be on my own having fun making runs, than deal with all the BS that goes on in class racing.I wont miss it.
And when i am driving around tomorrow cruising doing burnouts,
It wil have been well worth the change at this point.
I dont have what it takes to compete in TSO or any other Buick class.
I built this car to drive and have fun and run the A/C in the summer!

I currently have less money in my entire car than you have in your motor alone!
And when it breaks(and we know it will)It wont cost an entire car to repair.

Now I am going to Chili's,I just spent a new stroker bottom end on a new Sony HD TV:D

Now go get a PS3 and Call of Duty 4 so I can hand you your azz.

Talk about breaking $hit. My PS3 blue ray driver broke two weeks later. Waiting for the Sony box to arrive to send it in for repair. I'm going to have to get that Call to Duty 4 game. I hear it's pretty cool.

Oh, sorry for the hijack guys.

So let me get this straight.... The new rules allow a Pontiac Trans Am with a turbo to enter this class but other Gbodys with now a 109 with a turbo is not allowed? How does that make sense?

So Pontiac produces a Trans Am for one year with a turbo motor SIMILAR to a GN yet other Gbodys with turbos are not allowed to participate in this event? GMC made the Syclone with a turbo motor so why are they not allowed. There is a Syclone link on this site just as there is a Pontiac Turbo TA link. Why does a Pontiac with basically a one year production turbo motor come before Gbodys with turbo motors in them now?

Wouldn't it make more sense to put Gbodys cars with turbo motors in vs. ones with a Pontiac?

This website is almost exclusively dedicated to Gbodys with turbos (GN, T Type, GNX, WE4, WH1...)

Considering the majority of people that watch or race in Bowling Greens participate in this board why was there never a Poll conducted to see what cars should or should not be allowd to compete in the TAI class?

Was this a unilateral decision? Who made these rules up?

Isn't the event called the "Buick (Gbody) GS Nationals"? I dont see Pontiac anywhere in that abbreviation. I love Pontiac TTA's. They have always been one of my favorite cars but it's certainly more of a Gbody event then a Pontiac one considering over 90% of the turbo cars that race in Bowling Greens are Gbodys. Cars with TA motors or any stage configuration were not factory options but there is and shouldn't be an issue with them running in other classes so if someone puts a 109 turbo motor in their Gbody car they should beable to participate in this event long before a Pontiac with a 109 should.

The fastest car not always wins.. it must run round after round.. after round.. so a 12 second car can take this. Just like TSM with cars breaking..

TTYL

Julio
Hmm, I can run with in .2 tenths hot lapping... Time to put the wifes car on hold and start on mine :D Guess I need to start working on my reaction times too, it's only been 20 years since I had to worry about it

I dont understand the problem. 2 years ago this class was started and was one so that the TTA's could participate in. And lo and behold.. the two years the class has run, there have been TTA's representing. They have the same engines and transmissions as their GN counterparts. The class was made for them in mind.

So the class allows "Regals" with 109 blocks and TTA's. Did I miss something? The hybrids.. Monte's, Cutlass, Pontiac Grand Prix, etc.. With Buick engines.. have their own class they can race in.

So is the issue the word G-body or Regal. They are two different items. Even tho the chassis is the same. I didnt make the rules, except simplify them so we could have a nice payout in a class. One of the sticking points was the "Hybrid" meaning anything other than TTA or Regal.

as long as I have a GN grille and tail lights can I run this in the class  :p It does weigh the 3450#s  We are goin to put these 2 cars together to be one

This is not meant to be an attack but yes, you did miss something. I see that guys point. The TTA is a hybrid also and should have to race in the hybrid class. The hybrids also have the same drivetrain as the TTA.

Stupid rule IMO.
