2011 Silverado 2500 Duramax. 17 in the city unloaded, 24+ highway, 16.5 highway/city with a 22' enclosed loaded. And runs 13's in the 1/4.
I would love to know what you've done to get 24 out of that Motor. My '12 gets 14 city / 17.5 highway best. Way more than enough power in stock trim though. Feels like it pulls a wheelie on the 1-2 shift. And the brakes?? let's just say if you stomp the brake pedal you'd better have your eyes closed...they might just come outta their sockets.

Has anyone used a GMC fwd Accadia? I want to tow my car with open trailer. Do you think this will work ok?

I dont have any experience towing with an Acadia but I searched the tow capacity on an Acadia and it was listed at 5,200 lbs. You will be close to or above the recommended towing capacity with a full weight GN on an open trailer.

Thank you.

My black turbocharged DD is plugged in for the night already. A 94 6.5TD K2500 Suburban with barn doors! It smokes on start-up but always starts. It rides like a hay wagon until its LOADED. It makes NOISE that my Regal doesn't - thanks for that. Over 18 MPG in warm weather - Jeezus its been a while since we saw that. Interior is great with lots of room (back seat comes out & middle folds down for that 4x8 sheet of whatever) . I keep it clean but the seat fabric GM used is the best ever - check the driver's seat wear after 188K.

It has plenty of quirks and short comings (PMD & rear AC are a couple) but so far its pulled everything EZ and hasn't cost an arm and a leg. Rated to handle 6800# so that covers a lot of trailers.

2007 Dodge 2500. Twin Turbo, 6-speed. 21mpg empty, 15.3mpg towing 28' 10,000lb race trailer. EFI live tuned.

Can't go wrong with a Cummins.

I know I'm bringing this back from the dead, but does anyone else have an opinion on towing an open trailer with a 1/2 ton? I'm looking at an '03 Silverado with the 5.3 for occasional towing, mostly a parts getter. I'd feel better having a 3/4 ton diesel, but that's not in my budget, and wouldn't tow frequently enough to justify getting something that heavy duty.

I've done it a couple times with my '08 Silverado 1500 4x4.

Handled the car just fine. I didn't go over 70 miles either time, but it was fine.

Oh, and I pulled my father in-laws skidloader once also. Now that was a bit much for it.

Extended cab with an 8 foot bed should have enough brakes and weight so you won't have any issues.

My 97 F150 extended cab 4x4 with a 4.6 has towed my car on a 20' open trailer to NC several times and BG several times, MWBC once. Typical driving with the trailer is perfect, I can do 85mph with the car behind me and not know its there. The little 4.6 SCREAMS through the mountains though.....

keep it out of OD up hills and see what ratio is in the rear before settling for a 1/2 ton truck especially if it is a short bed.
a 3500 lb car max would be ok on a open trailer figuring open trailer is around 1500 lbs....should have 4 wheel brakes on the trailer.

I use a 2005 Tahoe has tow package which works great for the limited towing I do. Years ago I did ALOT of trailering....of turbo buicks...
