    Englishtown Upset Again

Being from New England, Labor day weekend has alway's been the premier BUICK event for me. I spent the day there on Sunday, I was disapointed. I would have enjoyed seeing your display Chris. Don't let a poor showing, change your marketing plan. Most people don't understand how...

    englishtown.

LOL Ben, That is an accurate description of Sunday. When I paid at the gate, The kid said, there wasn't any Buick event! Information was tough to get. They called all grand nationals to lane 7. I showed up and was told to leave until quick 16 was called. I was only able to get 2 passes...

Can you tell if trans has been rebuilt?

Sometimes you can tell by looking at the seals. The tailshaft seal has gone thru a few revisions sine the 80's. There are other clues, but they would require disassembly.;)

Poor WOT shift on fresh trans

Hello Jeff, It sounds like you have the right technique. Sometimes the old O-ring stays in the pump. I have seen where more than one O-ring kept the filter from installing fully. Also, the the metal tab under the VB bolt, pushes the the filter towards the pan. I have seen people use this...

Poor WOT shift on fresh trans

Hello Joe, I would give your reputable builder the first shot at it. Did they install the unit or did you? The first thing I would do, is to check the line pressure in the tranny. After that, an intelligent diagnosis can began. Some simple things can affect this, such as fluid level, TV...

    700 vs. 200

Every GM dealer has a computer that can search for TSB's. If you are friendly with one, they could look for you. There is an Internet site as well. I don't know the address, sorry.

    700 vs. 200

That code usaully indicates a difference between input and output speed of the transmission. At one point the only way to fix the code, was to rebuild the unit. I recall a bulletin about increasing the threshold of slippage, before the code would set. You might try looking up that bulletin, I...

    700 vs. 200

Without knowing the code, it's a guess. If it's only on the highway, my guess would be an O2 or evaporative emissions code. The only way to know for sure, is to put a scan tool on it.:)

    Wadded panties & board instructions

You put a lot of thought into your post Alan. I commend you. I have seen good builder's help out here. I wonder if they all feel just as unappreciated, because I do not see them post anymore. Transmission's are probably the most complex and least understood part of a car. I think people are...

Brakes for GN 12 bolt rears

Hi Art, I have quite a few 12 bolts. They all run a 9.5 inch drum. I have seen a few exception's with wider shoes. I would guess that a 70 chevelle 12 bolt application would work for your brakes. The drums are interchangable with a 10 bolt Buick. The wheel cylinder's are different between...

bad gas mileage when using a 200R4. Help!

with a powerglide you had a 1:1 ratio. this multiplied by your rear end ratio is 2.56. Overdive in a 2004R is .67. .67 X 2.56=1.7152 I'm sure a gear this tall requires a lot of throttle to pull. I would suggest a rear end gear change. In the mean time, you could leave it in 3rd gear 1:1...
