$9,000,I did all the work. I freshend up the motor with lighter pistons and a girdle 5 years ago. Put a roller in and a 6776 a year later. Switched to E85 last year. I do run 28 lbs of boost to make big power, but I don't do this all the time. It revs like crazy, pulls like crazy, and refuses to do anything but. By anything ,I mean break. There's nothing special about this motor. The learning curve was that I put it together and it stays together.
As far as highjacking this thread is concerned, the OP is looking for advise and, without understanding what his goal is,many are telling him not to do it and it can't be done. I advised him that the stock crank and rods are pretty good pieces for his goal. It sure has been good to me and others. I'll add Girdle it, get some J&E pistons,a 45a turbo,a 212/212 roller,120 lb/hr injectors,a modded ECM,a Translator GenII,anLS1 3.5" MAF,an Extender Extreme chip,Red's Doublepumper, and E85.
The 45a is a great turbo but it wont go the 750hp. It went 610 whp. I dont know what the hp at the crank would be but probably not the 750. We just tested this on my combo and i ordered a new turbo to push farther. I think the most boost we saw was 27#'s. Anything after that # it didnt gain power. We were measuring back pressure during test just to see how far it would go.
Then again i shouldnt say "we" cause i just paid for this to be done on the dyno. And im not a true car guy. But......... my money and trail of combos might have some help to someone wanting to build their dream themselves.
