SD2/Powerlogger Pro general discussion

Thanks for the reply. One other thing. I think parameter 13 may not be working right. Suppose to adjust for over all fuel but when I tried to reduce fuel ( from 128 to 110) it added? Ended up using 70 in the injector box to help lean it out. Actual size is 60.

Great chip though. Really neat and user friendly. (y)

give me some more info on the car, and a logfile at some point.

the params are primarily used in the chip logic, not in the PL calculations. So Eric will need to chime in on that.

Bob

Sorry, I don't have it spelled out in the instructions, but you can't use a value lower than 128 in param 13 fuel composition. It will consider it an error and throw in extra fuel as a safety (that's why it went richer).

Sounds like a simple edit Bob could add to PL.

Ahh, roger that. I just assumed it would go the other way as well. Selecting a bigger injector took care of it. 6 of 1 half a dozen of another.

Here are a couple files to look at. This car runs good till it gets into boost and rpm. Breaks up consistently.
I already know what the problem is. What do you guys think?

On 005 dat under boost the TPS was reading only 3.15 , was you WOT at that point , if you was that would be low and no mph reading either .

i see a few tuning "opportunities"...... what cam is in the engine?

Bob

well, it looks like the high MAP reading at idle might be responsible for the rich condition that lead you to increasing the injector size, thus it being lean at WOT.

I would set the injector size back to where it should be, and adjust the part throttle fueling with the BLM cell adjustments, or the VE table.

(thats what I saw at a quick glance)

Noticed today that my ATS reads HOT on the scanmaster. Is this due to relocating it in the plenum adn does it affect anything in the ECM?

Quick problem: I'm trying to disable closed loop via pin d11 at the ecm for my 2 step install per instructions I found on another thread- the cavity is empty (no pin in the connector). Should there be one? I wanted to confirm I wasn't missing something before blindly applying voltage to the ecm. Anybody have a part number for an ecm plug pin?

I don't recall disabling closed loop when I installed the TR6 ignition which has a two step. Pretty sure my D11 pin cavity is empty as well. I used to have a pin there for use with my old Gen 2 but removed it.

Got a MAL code 34 this morning. Stalled at a light going to work this morning and had trouble restarting the car. Once I got it going I had the code. The code is MAF sensor signal too low. Any ideas on why that code would trip with this chip?

The MAF codes are being used to monitor the MAP sensor signal. I don't know the fail thresholds, or whether the code could be set when starting, Eric needs to answer that.

Bob

Thanks. I'll read into that and ask if that means my MAP sensor signal may have a problem?

Check out this thread, I had/have the same issue. I checked all my connections and re seated the pl board on the ecm, so far so good but I hesitate to call it "fixed" since I haven't been driving it much.

Thanks haywire4130. I went and read that thread and there are some similar things going on. Several times recently I've had to shut the car off and turn it back on due to not running right (WB going lean and then rich just sitting in the driveway) but usually a re start would fix it. I have the MAP sensor grounded to the battery and a good 5v source per Bob's video he posted awhile back. I can check these but think they are good.

Cleared the code but it's still struggling at idle. Pulling out max fuel even though the tune used to be spot on. What is a typical MAP signal at idle? Mine is reading 45-50 and I'm going to compare to an old log when I get home to see if it has changed.
