Finally ready to start putting the beast together. I've been VERY carefully collecting the right parts (except for the F-in DP!!!) over the last year or so for what I think the perfect COMPLETE package will be.

Details soon. I promise!

Anyway, does anyone have any pics they could share of what subframes look like installed? I know some are different than others and would like to know what to expect.

TIA

M

I had custom once made from seamless tubing, very similar to the Spohn tubular once but with some extra bracing and all TIG welded and lots of work to make them fit properly then POR15 treated and then undercoating to blend in. I'm very pleased, this all done by a custom shop with years of experience doing custom bike frames for shows etc but the son is into 3rd gen F-bodies and do a lot of work and started to fabricate SFC's first for his own vert and my TTA then for other 3rd gen owners as well as 4th gen and 2nd gen owners. He also done my strut tower brace and steering brace all custom to my requirements.

Plenty of pictures see links below then click on thumbnails and navigate using the arrows on each page .... they had to shorten the 3" THDP to move it inwards about 1"-2" or so.

I am very pleased with the result and they guys did a super job as I'm very picky :)

Jan, yours look great! How much did the whole install cost you if you dont mind me asking?

He did some other stuff for me at the same time so I would say just the SFC's custom made and installed along with the POR 15 and under coating, shorten down pipe etc I paid about $600 USD .... that includes everything I just left the car with them for a week and then picked it up.

As usual Jan you've gone to great lenghts to restore that car! Looks awesome. I like the undercoating done to it.

Thanks for the pics!

Anyone else?

First I hesitated to have it done but when I drove my 84 hardtop (been sitting with my parents in Sweden since I move to the UK) before I sold it about 2 years ago I noticed the difference between a hardtop and a t-top and after that I decided to get it done but done properly with a "stealth" look if possible.

The guys I engaged been doing stuff like this for years and are probabrly one of the best welders in this country. As you see from the pictures no cost was saved on getting this done properly with some additonal bracing added compared to Spohn or similar off the shelf SFC's (by the way look at Spohns website http://www.spohn.net//index.cfm?action=read&contentid=10 and take a look at some of those welds and tell me if you would have them install yours  )

Anyway I'm pleased I had the SFC's installed as they made the body very stiff and you can feel the suspension doing all the work and not the body flexing
