Post Count

Wait'll you see what I got in store for the vendors :D

One way or the other, Im going to hide the Political Forum once the change is made. There are other ways I could have done it but its a HUGE PITA. If I cant come up with anything more elegant with Xenforo, Ill do it the same way I coulda done it here. Its just going to take a lot of reconfiguring which is why Ive avoided it here.

Thats great news.

Most likely what I am going to do is hide the forum and you have to join a new usergroup for it to be visible. I could have done that here but not without making it a lot of work for us. They seem to have removed the ability to allow people to set subscriptions if the subscription doesnt cost money. Thats why I never implemented that method here.

Wait just a minute here. You mean to tell me there is a for sale section AND a political section here? I gotta get out more. Just post horra in.

Ya'll keep up the great work for the best board on the web.

Jay, any thoughts on Bison's suggestion? removing post counts, that are related to the political forum, like you did for the For Sale forum? I thought that was a GREAT idea. Might make some of the post whores in the political section that contribute absolutely nothing to the board, think twice!!

Like I said this isn't permanet... This is for looksee purposes...

They aren't but maybe 5 members at the most that post in the political section and no where else...

I don't understand. Is it that bothersome for some people to see the words "Political Section" that it has to be removed or put somewhere else?
Also, is there some kind of prize for having the most posts?
These two topics sound like a waste of time in bettering the board!
Maybe I'm missing something here but I just don't see a big deal, just nonsense.

Well to me it looks like Shane an Jay have to babysit some guys (like they have nothing else to do ) Hell I don't like the "50 add's in a row" when I first get on here in the morning.. So I got a wiz bang mouse that allows me to zip right by them :p . BUT old guys like me can sometimes adapt easier than when I was young.

That's the key right there. Bettering the board. While it may increase traffic to the board, so would a porn section. But do you want that on here either?

HMMmmm. Are you giving me the option?

Not arguing here Dave, but that's what we're trying to figure out. We also have guys buying parts, sitting on them for a few months, and then re-selling them at inflated prices to make a profit. This isn't a witch hunt so don't get that idea please.:) What it is, is an attempt to reduce the number of guys that are making part of their living on the board as well as reducing scammers like Justin Gunn and others. If Turbo TJT had bought that many parts he probibly has enough to build a car from spare parts right now though.:p After all less than 1% of his posts (actually .001%) are in other areas? I don't care who you are, even bison isn't that good and either answers questions or sometimes asks them.:)

I guarantee Tim has bought more parts on this forum than he has sold. I actually would bet his selling to bought ratio is 20:1 or more. He's a god guy and a good board member so please dont use him as an example.

Don't forget to remove the Lounge posts too, I don't care who bought a new truck or who saw Van Halen last week. :p

That doesn't have much to do with our "hobby" either.

Then again for some, this isn't a "hobby" it's a way to get to work in the moring.

Choose your arguments wisely. :)

We're still trying to figure out who's doing what Jeremy. Not looking for scapegoats but looking for those that are not paying for free advertising that they're getting not to mention basically free money.:)

Yeah I understand. Just sticking up for Tim because his name was brought up. He's a good dude! Another thing to consider is PM traffic. I know I dont care to post much in the Brakes/Suspension section anymore but I bet I personally get 20+ PM from people needing help. And I also get plenty of PMs from people who dont really like to post publicly. I've sold my fare share of left overs on the for sale section so I cant say much but I will say it gets old seeing the same people selling parts everytime I go to the For Sale section. I usually end up schrolling to the second or third page. I think a good idea would be to limit the amount of threads that can be "STARTED" from each member per month. That would also keep people from posting 20 threads with one thing for sale in each thread. Make one big list and let people sort through it, thats whhat I usually do when it's time to clean shop.

Just my 2 pennies.:) -----Jeremy

Now that is a good idea.

And, while the pron thing seems like a good idea, I'd think that keeping it a family friendly board is better.

Start keeping track of those that're posting a lot in the for sale section then. We try an check it but that doesn't mean that we don't miss some. We could use the help finding the ones that're posting more than they should in the parts for sale section. I wasn't picking on Tim but you have to admit that with his post record it looks like he's in there an awful lot and most of the time that means selling more than buying.

It really helps to become a sponsor to the board, not only for the board itself but in sales as well. It means that you've got some credability on the board. If you don't believe me ask ttaowner (James) and he'll tell you his sales went up after he became one. I've been trying to get him to jump in here and add his .02 but he's been busy.:)

I think 3 posts in the For Sale Section per month would get rid of a lot of the mess. Of course if you are a vendor, then thats a different story but for us guys who are just members, I cant see myself even using 3 posts per month, more like one or two. I dont know, just an idea. -----Jeremy
