I was wondering if at all possible since i have several. Factory turbo cores laying around is it possible to make one a TA49? If so what do i need to do to do so? And where do i get such parts?

Not feasible as there is machine work required on the housings for the larger wheels that make a TA 49 as well as precision balancing of the rotating assembly..maybe one the turbo builders would have interest in your cores and you could get into one at a good price.

Thats kinda what iwas thinkin. Iwas assuming i could just get a larger compressor housing and bolt it on with a larger wheel to compensate for it

Generally speaking around 30 HP or 3 tenths/ 3MPH. Depends on how hard you are running your engine....if your only running 14# of boost it will make less gains, if your running the stocker hard that is when it will it make a bigger difference.
For what its worth I went 11.66 with my stock turbo with a decent engine, ported heads , small cam, ported stock neck I/C.
With a T/A 49 I went 10.98 on the same engine slightly more cam, 17 row I/C.
That was pretty much all each combo had to give. If the stock turbo had been run with the better intercooler and cam it would likely have gone 11.50's.
IMO the ta 49 was a great turbo upgrade in its time....I do not have experience with the modern turbo equivalent to a ta 49 turbo, there is likely something better out there.

A billet wheel 5857e/5858 is usually what guys upgrade to.

The ta49 is a bolt on upgrade that plays nicely with all factory components and produces alot of power...ill post a link up

This is correct. Much cheaper if bought through me directly. MFS wheels available also. Stock or non stock appearing. Stainless steel clamps available for long lasting appearance
