Limits of the even-fire crank design

Almost all will agree from a strength aspect that an odd-fire crank is stronger than an even-fire. I know that any engine component can be broken with things like improper tuning & detonation. But has anyone ever broke a good billet even-fire crank from just making too much power & had to convert to an odd-fire design?
 
Duttweiler has done a lot of odd fire stuff and pretty sure he's broken those cranks too.
