Discreet yet updated gauge

It's probably less complicated then you thought. While I was at PickNPull today I grabbed another set of dummy lights both sides so I can do the multiple gauges you suggested. Might be down the road a bit though as I have quite a few parts on the way to keep me busy enough for a month or two.

When you do the write up type everything up before you post it. Then all you need to do is a copy and paste and add pics. Do the pics as thumbnails so the pics will be bigger when clicked on, and when you post it this will keep questions down until you get all the info posted. That way any questions can be answered after everything is posted.;)

Make it a sticky!!

Have I told you guys how much I love this site lately?;) This is great stuff, my car looks like the damn space shuttle with 6 gauges + the digital dash, but wanted all the info so I wouldn't hurt anything, but it's not very stealthy. This would be so much cleaner and stock appearing. Thanks and subscribed!:)

Same part, better deal. And, available in Red, Green, or Blue:

I restore early 80's electro-mechanical slot machines (little sideline) and use these inside the machines to monitor power supply voltages. Makes troubleshooting simple. Good idea to slip them under the telltale lens, kudos to OP.

All the ideas for what they could be used for are great, but for anything other than volts wouldn't you need something to convert the volts into the value you need?

To use for other gauges I'm factoring buying the digital gauges (oil, temp) then removing the existing display from the gauge soldering in wires and running it to the green display.

Yes. Most of the time you would need a way to accurately convert ohms (and scale it) to volts to get the reading to match what you're looking to see.

Years ago I found schematic for using thermistors (ohm 'generators') to control cooling water in reflux moonshine stills. It basically used an input device that changed impedance then had two pots to trim a high and low so you could get an accurate slope. I could probably find the schematic again or, most likely John could rattle if off the top of his head. I believe he's forgotten more about electronics than I'll ever know.

I was wondering about that - to use theses displays for anything other than voltage is pretty complicated.

I was thinking about a boost display on the right side to go with the factory bar one.
