Belt tensioner

I actually work for Gates and can see about possibly putting together a group buy on these tensioners. We still make them, just smaller production runs.

Who in the worlds is buying them from you!? I can't imagine too many companies with more buying power than Amazon.

Well I checked into it and it looks like the tensioner part number is pending cancellation. So if you find one better buy it. I'll check tomorrow and see if there anymore available in any warehouses.

What about acquiring the tooling? A vendor may be interested in it.

If you find any would you be able to make them available to us??

They only offer the pulley.

We are talking about the tensioner not the tensioner pulley.

Those will be available forever.

tb hero for sure:cool: ...Ive had three on my car and now this one is starting to go cause the choice for many has been used ones.

I contacted Midway Auto supply (who Amazon buys from) and they e-mailed me this.....
"We have been informed that it has been discontinued by the manufacturer."
If there is an option for a group buy, or any in a warehouse, I'm in.

Me too!

X3 i bought one from GNRick before the snow hit. Could use a spare. Rule of thumb never let anyone touch your motor unless they are certified turbo regal specialist! Last guy broke the ear off my tensioner and never said anything. I was ignorant at that time about working on our master pieces. Lol lesson learned and noted...

Any way to adapt a newer style spring assembly to the old bracket?

I've looked into that a few times, but not very seriously. Being that it holds the alternator also, it makes it dual purpose. That throws a bit of a monkey wrench into the whole deal.
I have a million projects started and this is one of them. If I figure out how to machine a bracket and adapt a newer tensioner...I'll be sure and post it.

I posted about a year ago that I had one for sale. Lew_86 stepped up to the plate and bought it. I think I even posted in this thread that I still had it. Plus, my price was $100 less than a vendor who was selling the same thing. Maybe you guys thought I paid $45 like the Amazon price showed and that I was making a killing by asking $200. So did I pay $45? No. I paid a lot more. Did I make a little money on it? Yes. When I was searching for a power steering reservoir, I paid $125 to a guy on Ebay for a NOS one. Did I need one and nobody else had them? Yes. Did he make money off me? I'm sure he did. Moral of the story...if you see something you want, buy it when you can. I just bought a part for our cars today from Advance that appears to be the last one. I checked RockAuto, Oreilly's, Napa, AMAZON, and Autozone. Nobody else had them. Advance can't even get anymore. Tomorrow I'll call the Buick dealer to see if they are truly discontinued. I'll let you know what part I am talking about tomorrow.

That's just cold dude!!!
Well, look at it this way....if there is just a handful left, I'll buy them all, make a few bucks on each one and sell them to you guys. If I don't buy them, someone else will and they might be gone forever, like the belt tensioners. If there are a bunch left in the warehouses, but it is discontinued, you guys will be the first to know, so you can decide if you want to buy them from GM while they still got them. See, I'm not so bad after all!

GNRick has a valid point. Highway Stars belt tensioner is well over $300 purchased one from Rick 200 including shipping for a "rare" part. He could have easily charged closer to what that vendor is selling it for. Thanks again Rick! I'm happy and my GN is still running!

And I even refunded some of the shipping as I over estimated it!
