    Carly scanner

I know it’s not turbo Buick related. But has anyone ever used that Carly scanner? I got one as they seem to be exactly what I was looking for in an at home scan tool. What a pile of junk, can’t seem to figure out how to use any of the features shown in reviews and the live data doesn’t work at...

    Crown lower steering column bearing

Hey guys, I’m installing a Crown lower steering bearing kit in my GN. Is the bearing supposed to be sloppy in the white carrier piece? Seems like the bearing will just spin in the white part and wear it out super fast.

    Parts and BG. Any interest?

I did an engine on a ‘84 WH1 T-Type for a guy and the new turbo failed almost immediately. Pumping oil out the exhaust side. Maybe 2 hours of running, hasn’t even been driven yet. I pulled the turbo back off and the oil drain is clear, tube is clear 0 restrictions. Is there anything different...

    Cam Button

Where can I find a turbo oil feed line for an ‘84 hot air? I work on a lot of Buick’s from home, I did the engine on this particular 1984 T-Type WH1 last year and it now has a pin hole in the turbo oil feed line that is spraying oil onto the exhaust up pipe to the turbo. I see G-Body parts...

    Headlight upgrades

I know there are literally thousands of posts about headlight upgrades but... My daily driver is a 2013 F-150 with the factory HID projector headlights and they are awesome! When I go from my truck to the GN the factory halogen headlights on the car really suck, like they are not even on...

    2019 Snap-on Tools wall calendar

For those of you who work in the automotive industry, or anywhere where you may have access to the Snap-on calendar… my 87 Grand National is in the 2019 wall calendar in December 2019.

    84 Exhaust manifolds

Hello everyone, I have an 87 GN but I do a lot of work on turbo Buicks for people. I'm doing an engine on a 84 T-type designer series for a guy, I pulled the motor last fall before I went for shoulder surgery so he could get it re-built over the winter. I'm all healed now and the engine is...

    PAC alky control install issue

I'm installing a PAC alky kit in at 87 T-Type for a friend, everything is going good but I'm stumped at the "turn-on" LED that the instructions say to install by the aftermarket boost gauge. Physically installing the LED is easy, it's the wiring connections that I can't figure out. The...

    Best head gaskets

I've done a search on the forum, found 16 years worth of posts on the subject. So what are the best head gaskets to run on a built engine these days?

    Cleaning GN upper door panels

As the title says, I want to clean my interior upper door panels on my 87 GN. Got talked into putting it in the World of Wheels here, which is in 2 weeks. Rest of the car is about ready, but I can't think of a way to clean the upper door panels without ruining the pleats. They are not bad. But...

Rebuilt transmission not shifting quite right

As the title says, my 200-4R was completely re-built this summer. It was done locally by a reputable transmission builder, it shifts ok but when I get on it the 2-3 shift is not quite right. 1-2 shift is phenomenal, but there is a flare on the 2-3 shift. Unless I'm driving and put it down...

    Intrepid fan wiring

I just picked up a used Dodge Intrepid dual cooling fan assembly for my GN. I see there is a nice plug and play harness from Caspers, but I'm a mechanic and a little cheap so I'm going to make my own wiring. I'm in Canada and that $70.00 harness will cost me about $150.00 by the time it's all...

    Cruise control stopped working

I was driving the other day and noticed the green "cruise" light was on all the time, and it seemed to get brighter when I stepped on the brakes. I turned the cruise switch on the turn signal lever to "off" and the cruise light went off, turned it back to on and the cruise light came back on...

    Boring cylinders.

Hey math experts. My block is being bored out 30 thou. What will that make the displacement? Using forged pistons on stock rods and crank.

    Cracked intake manifold

I just sand blasted all the aluminum parts off my engine. Everything turned out great but there are 3 cracks in the lower intake manifold. One right in the middle at the back by the bolt for the wiring harness that goes right through and one on each side on the back at each end of the China...

    Motor mounts

While I have my engine out I figure it's a perfect time to put new motor mounts on it. I went to GM and got new mounts, they list a left and right mount but when they check further both change up to the same part number. The left mount fits perfectly, but the right mount is not even close. I...

    Rear main seal

So, I took my engine apart last weekend... original un-touched since new. To my surprise, there was no rear crankshaft main seal in it at all. No upper or lower. just an open cavity where it should be. And it didn't even leak oil that bad, it was leaking but I would think it should be pouring...

    Have to rebuild engine

So as the title says I have to rebuild my engine. Took it out for the first cruise of the season last Friday and it started knocking. Not how I wanted to start the summer. Pulled the motor and found #5 rod bearing mashed out, but at least it didn't spin. all the rod bearings were badly worn...

Any fix for turbolink 4.0 and windows 10

As the title says, is there any way to make turbolink 4.0 work on a windows 8 or 10 computer? Worked perfect on my old windows 7 machine (which is dead now) I know it's an outdated scan tool, but it works for me... just wish I could actually still use it. Program loads on the computer just...
