Cracked intake manifold

I just sand blasted all the aluminum parts off my engine. Everything turned out great but there are 3 cracks in the lower intake manifold. One right in the middle at the back by the bolt for the wiring harness that goes right through and one on each side on the back at each end of the China rail.

Has anyone else seen this?

I'll get it welded, no big deal. That was probably my oil leak.

Somebody is torquing the bolts too much?

Seen a few cracks like that on the intake, but a good alum welder can fix that.

The head surfaces should then be machined before installing it.

And when that's done spend MANY MANY MANY MANY hours scrubbing and cleaning and scrubbing and cleaning and scrubbing that manifold.

You've got enough grit embedded in that manifold to take out your engine.

I'd recommend welding up the EGR port in the plenum while the welder is on the clock. There's no telling how much grit is in there waiting to take out your machined surfaces.

I'll be re sand blasting it after its welded.
EGR passages are spotless. All blasted with walnut.
