I'm trying to figure out if I should be getting the heads machined for this cam. I've been running it for a while with no problems, but since the engine is out, I was going to have a valve job done. 0.448 int./0.472 exh. lift

Got the Edelbrock 5487 kit,and the lifters have a small groove around the bottom of the lifter. I've never seen this before. . .What does it do? Picture's a little fuzzy, but you get the idea. . . The Edelbrock part number for the lifter is 9749.

I notice a lot of GN folks nod knowingly when I tell them the reason I rebuilt my engine was because #1 rod bearing was hammered flat. What causes this? Detonation? Why just the #1 bearing and not the rest?:confused:

Yes. This is the stock replacement wastegate actuator that works on the stock style turbo. It starts at 18lbs of boost and can be adjusted upwards from there. It's basically the same as a stocker, with a stronger spring and an adjustable rod.

I just rebuilt mine. The kit has all the "O" rings you need. My pump works like new and no leaks! I hit it with a can of semi-gloss engine paint, and it looks like new.

Like new, except where someone went nuts holding the end of the rod with a vice grips and chewed it a little bit. I have pics. $40.00 plus shipping.

Thanks Chuck. I meant 002" on the bearings per my notes to the machine shop. I'm going to do exactly what you suggest. No more mistakes!

Going to replace the ones that are in the block now, I'm looking at DuraBond BP13T or TA- Preformance TA_1555. Just checking to see what you guys think.

Would these bearing problems be the source of my engine tapping noise?
