Hey 204/214 cam owners, did you have to machine your stock heads?

I'm trying to figure out if I should be getting the heads machined for this cam. I've been running it for a while with no problems, but since the engine is out, I was going to have a valve job done.

Ok, I just stuck a valve in my head to see what the gap between the keeper and the guide were. It measured out to .4885" (ex) so you might be ok. Just remember that you don't have seals on the exhaust but you do on the intake. It would be a good idea to get a hight mike and see what you get. I used my Mitutoyo calipers so I know it's accurate. I would have them cut for insurance my self but that's up to you. Each head is different.

I was in the same boat you were, had the 204-214 cam with stock heads - worked good, but now it works even better with Champion Irons.
