Odd issue, MAF code but then no code, then code

So a friend of mine has a TTA with a Tanslator+ on it. He put a new LS1 MAF in and the car runs fines. After a bit it will throw a mass air code but still run. When he makes some changes to the translator the code goes away for a bit but returns.

Anyone else had an issue like this? I suggested he get a new MAF but he wanted to know if there was a possibility of the translator being hosed.
