Even though I voted for the Silverton, after reading all of the posts I like the cannery better. I think that any place that will somewhat cater to us would make the event better.

Actually, I found out last night that it's Arizona Charlies' East. I think I heard Craig say that:
1. Rooms are $30/night weeknights
2. Rooms are $60/night weekends
3. They love car clubs are have no problem with car trailers, etc.
4. There's a block of 125 rooms for your use.

When I receive e-mail from him, I'll update the site with the exact info.
It's location is about the same distance as Silverton, but in a totally different part of Vegas. There are easy ways to get to the track without ever touching a highway. When I type up the directions, I'll include both on-highway and surface street directions. (Highway is further, but requires less turns).

Riding the roundy-round

Is there any way to get a ride on the NASCAR track? Either with a pro driver for a lap or two or arrange to run your own car on the track (yeah, right!)? Hey, ya gotta ask, right.

Found it Jack. I think my wife is going to sign up for it. I'll probably end up missing the early morning T&T but what the heck.

Thanks.

Gary

P.S. Can I use your email for PayPal?

What about the Riv ?? We want the Riv !!.............

Sorry, no Riv for 2004. Can't get the chassis guy to finish the tin work, can't get the body guy to finish the body, and the engine guy will soon be starting his fourth year in building the motor. Can you spell frustration:confused: . It's no wonder people turn to Chevy, Ford or Mopar.

West Coast Nats!!!

Right on... Oct 8th and 9th - we'll be there!! This is gonna be cool, Beavis..... uhhhh huhuhuhuhuhuhuhhuhuhuhhuhhu... .

:D

The hotel info and directions from the hotel to the track are now posted on the site. I'm not sure about the last date for hotel registration; once I get confirmation, I'll change it on the site.

....This is the same day LVMS is hosting "Supras Invade Las Vegas", isn't it..???? It'll be interesting to see if any fast ones show up.. (ie <12 sec.)

Las Vegas Hotel (Alternate)

Arizona Charlie's is the 'official' hotel for the West Coast Nationals in Vegas in October. However, quite a few of us prefer something closer to the track and don't care if it's near downtown or the Strip (Gambler's row, not the track) so I've done some research on hotels and find out that our WCN event coincides with NASCAR at the same track, same weekend. Consequently, hotel space is limited, even at this early date. The Cannery is booked solid as are several other reasonably priced hotels. Here's what I've come up with.

Best Western Nellis (AFB) Motor Inn has 30 rooms available now. For a minimum block of 10 rooms they'll work a 10% discount (same as AARP, Corporate discount). Rates are $54.99 Sun - Thursday and $79.99 Fri/Sat. 2 Queen beds, microwave, coffee maker, and free "hot" breakfast each day. It's on the south end of the AFB and only 3 miles down LV Blvd. N. from LVMS. If we can put up with the noise of military aircraft day and night it should work well. Looks like we need to decide very soon if this is where we want to be.

We can either block a number of rooms with reservations required by a certain date and reserve individually, or reserve all with one credit card (bad idea). If we decide to do this I can call and get a code phrase for the group discount (Buick Performance Group, SoCal GS Club, West Coast Nationals, etc.) and we can use that when we call in the reservation.

They have adequate parking, including extended parking for vehicles with trailers but it is not secured. That could be an issue for those without enclosed trailers or who might be driving their cars to LV.

Reservations can be made at 800 546-1119. I spoke with Linda. She works M-F 7am - 3pm PDT.

Please respond to this ASAP. Those of you who've already said you'd stay at the Cannery please respond again so I know this hotel is good for you. Also, please pass this on to all who might be interested or who you know are planning to be in Vegas - Rich Burgi, Gordon (SoCal GS), the Resto Shop gang and any others. It will probably be nearly all V8 folks at this hotel and it needs to be said that this is not an effort to segregate ourselves from the turbo folks (you guys are great and we appreciate the opportunity); we're just looking to avoid traffic (last year was a nightmare) and most don't seem to care about casino action.

I'll post this info on the V8 and BPC lists also.

Let's get this done or plan to stay at AZ Charlie's with the rest of the crowd. Either way is pretty much ok with me but I like the idea of a 3 mile drive rather than a 13 mile drive to the track.

Thanks.

The Nellis option sounds awesome.. Then again, I am mesmerized by tactical jet aircraft...... (maybe that's why I love the sound of turbos in the morning..?????)

How's security there..???

Huh? Why do you think Nascar is running that weekend? There's a Nascar truck race 2 weeks before us, but there shouldn't be during the event.

Jack,

The gal at the Ramada Speedway told me that. I didn't see it on the LVMS schedule. At any rate they were full.

Thanks.

somebody is passing out bad info, unless the Cannery's reservation site is wrong......rooms are definitely available Oct 8, 9, and 10.......$79 for Fri & Sat and $59 for Sun..........

are the dates set in concrete?

Real bad information.

Five minutes ago I got off the phone from The Cannery. I booked a room at the rate you said but asked for a Buick racer discount. They knocked $10 per night off the rate.

Las Vegas here I come .... and remember that T.V. ad....What happend in Vegas, stays in Vegas. Hope they ain't talking about crankshafts. ;)
