Not trying to stir the pot but what is the reason for the 3"x2" specs for the turbo?
Even when I had a 66mm turbo on my car I went with the 4"x2.5"

I know that, just wanting to know why?
Trying to keep the cars in the 10's ?

The turbo leaves our car out.
Not that I own a TTA,but the rear end rule should be opened up for them.
the stock 9 bolt is **** and the power levels this class will run and upgraded rear would be my first upgrade.

A couple quick reasons:
One when I started the class many people said I was allowing to large of a turbo by going with the 67 so I decide lets cap it at a 3x2 67mm turbo. There was even some who wanted a TE44 as the limit. No way to please everyone.

Two it makes tech a little easier as it is quick to see a 4 inch inlet. An S cover on a 70 looks the same as on a 67 so ever 4 inch cover turbo car would have to pull the air intake hose/pipe off.

Take care, Kip

Sorry to hear we lost you on the turbo rule. Maybe if you can make a race with the car you can borrow one. If at the time I have something laying around I will be glad to help.
On the TTA,your opinion is valued but understand that if we let say nine inch fords rears in for them some of the TR guys would have formed a lynch mob if we did not let them have one.

Thanks for the offer.we will see what happens.
I understand your thought on the rear end rule, but the
Buicks atleast came with a 8.5 rear, just figuring this may keep
some of the TTA guys from coming out.
It is cool that they are being allowed to join though!

This is a dead issue imo. I brought this up months ago but it staying 3", 2". Any air to air stock location or front mount intercooler is allowed but still required to run the small comp cover. Too bad. I have a very strong combo that will run at least a half second faster than anyone in this class has so far but im not about to send the turbo back to get the E cover.

I always find it amusing how some rules "Only" benifit the guy making the rules vs. benifiting the MAJORITY.....

?

Bison , How fast is your car , and how fast has THS run?I saw a 10.20 something and you are .5 quicker than that? So you have run 9.70 in THS legal trim. Wow that is impressive!!

Wow that's an interesting take on this. You make it sound like it's a rule allowing a one off set of heads that only the maker of the rules has possession of. Anyone can buy a 3" inlet turbo.

Not going to run THS because of the turbo. Im not to keen on the tire sizes allowed either. Pretty much requiring re-gearing for optimization if you stay with a 28" tire height. Im very fond of the Phoenix 28.5x9 slick with the stock 3.42 gears. They are a no go according to the rules. The 295/55 DR may prove useful if the measured installed height is over 28" but i doubt it. The car has the the power to go 9.60 with a 1.37-1.39 60'. Ill post what it runs this spring. With 10 gallons in the tank a and me in the car @230lbs im right at 3660lbs.

Thats not what he is referring to. He is really saying most guys that run the kind of power to run competitively in THS already have front mounts and have had compressor covers larger than the E cover for a long time before THS was even thought of. If it was up to me i would have allowed any compressor cover to attract as many into the class as possible since it is new and id want some big dogs in it to set the bar. If alky injection is used properly you can recover almost all of what is lost with the smaller cover. It would be one thing if the E cover was an easy swap out for the owner but it isnt. It requires a different backing plate and therefore the turbo needs to be sent to the manufacturer for a swap out leading to aggravation. As far as the heads thing goes that is very true. The heads could have anything done to them but only need to appear as manufactured on the outside. Keep in mind most guys arent building a car specifically for THS including me. They are trying to run what they have. If they were building a totally new THS setup these rules wouldnt matter at all. Most will be adapting their cars so they are legal in THS. Some like me will not be. No big deal. It is what it is.

No offense Bison, but GNBRETT said benefits the guy writing the rules...I see no benefit, everyone has the same restrictions (in this case the turbo cover) so it's not benefiting the writer of the rules, or anyone else for that matter.

Car count is a whole different conversation than what I perceived GNBRETT to be referring to.

Also (and this is JMO), if someone was serious about coming out and being the big dawg in this class changing the turbo cover shouldn't be enough to deter them.

?

Bison, Why would you want big dogs in to set the bar where the average Joe dosent have chance to compete? That is not a way to gain car count.

Bison, I have asked for Brett to expalin his statement so we will all know what he meant.
You did see that front mount intercoolers are legal? Your comment about them and the compressor covers makes it seem like you thought they were not to me.

See ya, Kip

Just to let everyone know where the races will be held.

None of these threads are stickies, so i thought i would copy and pasted these.

Too bad they are far from me, i have all those mods done already on my cars.

But they are slow :)

Some self proclaimed "Big Dogs" like to run their Weiner cleaner about what they could do. :roll eyes: Its much easier to tell someone what you can do v/s coming out and showing them. Maybe adding SHOW ME to the rules might help. Still waiting to hear about the 9.50s car from last year showing up.
