Local guy dipped into the 11.30s on a stock ported turbo, stock location IC, 009s, oh yeah, on pump gas and alky ;) Talk about

Hey, I think it is the "Tin Man" cold air set up that makes this possible. ;-)
I heard, at Norwalk today someone with a similar combo to 6GUN ran 10.95.
That is kickin` butt!
And with a ta-49 yet!
Vey impressive, and congrats!
Brian

That was the "Tinman" who ran that time in Norwalk. He later ran a 10.93.

Yep, that was the tinman backing up his 10.95 with a 10.93 on sunday! AWESOME!! So while i'm on the subject, I am kinda curious, whats the fastest anyone has gone, with the similiar setup as tinman, but with the stock turbo AND intercooler?? My car has run well, but with some fine tuning, i think i can squeeze a little more than the 11.86 @ 112 1.58 60ft , anyone??:p

Hi all,

Wow! What a weekend. Buick race weekend @ Norwalk was great this year! Sunday weather was ideal. Mid-High 50's yet partly sunny. The track was a-hookin' and I was a-bookin'. Was lucky enuf to pull off a 10.95 and back it up w/ a 10.93 @ 123mph. WOW! I'm even amazed! So, thanks everyone for the congrats'.
Goes to show you other factory long-block, TA-49 guys, you can do it too. I have spent the last few years with pretty much the same combo, squeezing everything I could out of it, and it finally paid off.
87funT, my brother and I have squeezed his 87T' w/ stk. turbo and intercooler to a 11.84@112mph w/1.58 60ft on a 58 deg. day. I still think we can get another tenth or maybe 2 from it under the right conditions.;) So, don't give up yet! By the way, with your build-up, you ARE already SCREAMIN !!!....good work!

CONGRATS AL.
Mike AKA raven 6 also went 11.08 on a full weight blue top injector car backed it up with 11.10 .what a fun day it was.I was leaking exhast or head gasket all day and put on a small turbo but look at this shot they got of my car leaving on a 1.41 short time

again congrats bud good to see you:cool:

Supposedly Red Armstrong ran 10s with a 49 way back in the day. I have no idea what his combo was.

Ya, Taffy, I remember hearing something about that but am not sure of his engine build-up . I think he had some internal engine work done, not totally sure. That was back when the TA-49 was the biggest Buick turbo you could get.:)

Hey! Bobby Buick!!

Thanks for the congrat's. Good seeing you . Is Mike ...aka raven6 Mike S..? If so I did talk to him there and yes, his GN is also screamin!.
That pic of you launching is the PERFECT shot. An awsome wheels up shot you can be proud of!!!... 1.41 60ft!...Dang!!! It was a great time. Good luck w/ your car. See ya in Bowling Green.

Al:)

Congrats Al !
Yes that was me with the 11.08 & 11.10. When I saw you in the staging lanes I think you had a 11.01 then. I dialed in the 11.10 and broke out with the 08 but it was worth it. See you in BG.

Thanks,
Mike

CONGRATS to you too, Mike!! It was good to see you again. And ya, it's always worth it when you run a personal best........even when you break-out and loose a race. I've done that many times. That is the only time I don't mind losing!
See you at the GS Nats !!

** Also let me just say regarding my earlier post regarding RedArmstrong possibly running a 10sec time w/TA-49 turbo. I'm not sure if his engine had internal mods or not. Regardless, I will say that if it weren't for Red Armstrongs articles & parts and Ralph Ascroft @ HEMCO plenums, along with all the other tech info I used from the Buick GSX-tra Club articles over the years, I would never have run these numbers. Thanks..everyone !!!

Wow, blue tops going 11.0s and TA 49s on stock long blocks in the 10:eek:

Does anyone know if a guy by the name of Mannie Ecker still runs his black Turbo T? Just curious as he did some work on a buddies GN years ago [1996] and I have some runs of his car at Dragway 42, going back to mid 90s probably. I think he had a 49 if I remember right and is going 11.30s on the tape I have.
