Sounds like fun!:cool:
I think so!

It would be A LOT of fun! It comes down to driving strategy trying to get the car to hook with Regular street tires rather than blow the tires off!! I think this class would generate quite a few people.

Must have at least a 200 tread wear rating or more.

Count me in!!

SW.

How about a class for original paint, 7.00 et? :)

Jim, you can't even find your way to Richards half the time so how you gonna remember where piedmont is:confused:

:D

I have actually kicked the street radial class around before. I dont care what engine mods and everyone must run on any non drag type DOT tire that is 275/50 or smaller. Something like that anyways.

QUESTION
For the 8,9,10,11,12,13,14 second quarter mile times...
What would be their respective times in 1/8 mile with MPH??

Sounds like fun, and I'll definitely be there spectating. The rule of thumb is that 1/4 mile et = 1.57 * 1/8 mile et. Depending on exact traction and aerodynamics and gearing that can go from 1.5 to 1.6+ but 1.57 works well as a start. That means that (okay, my nice spacing didn't survive, sorry):

1/4 - 1/8 et
8 = 5.1
9 = 5.7
10 = 6.4
11 = 7.0
12 = 7.6
13 = 8.3
14 = 8.9
15 = 9.6

Mph is harder, since most cars gain 20-40 mph in the second 1/8th almost no matter what the 1/4 mile et is. In the 1/4 for TR's, et = 1356/mph works well, so maybe subtract 30 from that for an 8 sec car and 20 from that for a 15 sec car to get the 1/8th mile mph. So for an 8 sec car, mph = 1356/8 = 170, and the 1/8th mile would be about 130-140 (yes, this is rough), and for a 12 sec car mph =1356/12=113 and in the 1/8th about 85-90.

What do you normally run in the 1/8? I thought mid-low 4's would be possible so I don't have a prayer unless the big tire car messes up. I expect to see some 4.80's but at 3400# and on a 10" radial anything less than excellent track conditions and it might run 5.0's.

I say we all run heads up. I'd rather get beat by another car because he's just faster than me than getting a head start and winning;)

3 or 4 years ago I went a 4.25 @ 162. Since then I have lost the combination mostly from lowering the compression to 6.64 to 1, but added more boost and have been a few 4.40's, more 4.50's and a bunch of 4.60 to 4.80's. At the BPG race last year (first race at 6.64 to 1 compression and first attempt at 1/4 mile , I couldnt even beat the TA (Henderson) car with 8.60's:eek: . Most likely I would have everyone covered , but I never know what Im bringin from one week to the next. I change way to much stuff and seldom race , Ive only made 2 passes this year with this totally new combination 4.56 and 4.48. Just being honest here!! Mike:cool:

I personally think that based on past performance I would have to venture and say that the ZDDPlus (Bob and Trampass) car might be the quick qualifyer in the race in March. They ran really good in Norwalk (Mid 7's) and the car runs high 140/low 150 mph in the 1/8th. Can't count out BWR, Booher, or Richie Kibler either. It would be great to see a small tire car win on a holeshot. Dusty can tell u that is you give up .020 on the tree your day is OVER!! Anything is possible. Will be interesting to say the least.

I guess Im supposed to be quiet here , but just cant :eek: !! I WILL BE LOW QUALIFIER!! Are you paying low qualifier money??? Mike:cool:

You mean like this:eek: Talk about asleep at the wheel!!! Took Trampas 1300+ feet to catch up to this hole shot. Mike:cool:

qualifier

If I have anything to say about it YOU WILL NOT BE LOW QUALIFIER. There, I said it.

3 or 4 years ago I went a 4.75 @ 158. Since then I have lost the combination mostly from lowering the compression to 6.64 to 1, but added more boost and have been a few 4.70's, more 4.80's and a bunch of 4.90 to 4.95's. At the BPG race last year (first race at 6.64 to 1 compression and first attempt at 1/4 mile , I couldnt even beat the TA (Henderson) car with 8.60's:eek: . FIxed it for you Mike.:cool: Wow. 4.70's should be right in the mix and really make for a tight racing field...

Thanks for that!! I guess after a couple of beers last night , I didnt hit the all the keys on the keyboard correctly. Mike:cool:

Are you sure the math is correct? Shouldn't it be:

5.15 + .050= 5.650
and
4.88 + .297= 5.177

Are you sure the math is correct? Shouldn't it be:

5.15 + .050= 5.650
and
4.88 + .297= 5.177

If you add the difference in the reaction time .297 - .050 = .247
add that difference to the quicker time 4.88 +.247 = 5.127

In theory 5.15 and 5.127 means at the 1/8th mile the MOV (margin of victory) was only .026
so in the 1/8th at that speed was maybe quarter of a front fender difference. so subtracting .030 from the 5.15 run means the MOV would have been .003 in favor of the slower car.
TIGHT!!!

Yeah, there is a lot of smack talkin' going on here but most people have NO CLUE what it takes to get a car down the track clean at this level. One thing is a LOT of seat/track time - I don't think any of us here are full time professional racers.

I think I'll just keep my mouth shut and let my car to the talkin' when it all goes down! I've got my can opener ready.........:eek: :eek: :eek:
