Does the block need any special machining before installing a RJC main cap girdle?

Is it worth going with Billett main caps on a basically stock rebuild. I am reusing the stock crank, rods and pistons. My goal for the car is low 12's maybe high 11's eventually.

What is a good flat tappet cam, mods are in my sig. Will be porting heads while engine is apart, will be upgrading down pipe, exhaust and going to upgrade the turbo with a TA49 or comparible turbo. I know roller cam is the best but not in the budget.

Removed my left header off my car today to weld the cracks and noticed there is no gasket for the flange. Do I need to purchase a gasket for the flange before I reinstall the header or can it be reinstalled as is?

I am going to be replacing the timing chain on the Buick and was wondering if there is a prefered brand of timing set and any tips to make this job easier. A I have also read in other posts that aftermarket timing sets do not require the tensioner.

Went to start the Buick this morning and would not start, engine sounds labored and exhaust backfires.:mad: I think timing chain skipped on gear, I think it still has original timing set. My real question is, if it skipped time while cranking engine over will it bend the valves?
