    Another GN Converted.

Nice build. Did you purchase the transmission harness separate and does it have factory connectors on the ECM side? I looked on the Holley web site and didn't see it..

Do I need a new Combination/ Prop Valve for rear conversion?

I realize this post is over 13 years old but the link doesn't work. Anyone have a fresh link that explains how to modify the prop valve when doing a rear disk brake conversion? Thanks!

    Best Replacement AGM Battery

This couldn't be further from the truth and is an example of someone parroting what they heard or read on another site without good data to support the claim. JCI operates manufacturing plants around the world including Mexico where most recently the lead smelting operations have moved to...

Looking for advice on proven mount/header/oil pan combination for LSx/2004r

I realize that this is an old thread but with the number of G body swaps out there I'm surprised that no one has a solid answer to the OP's question. I too would like to the factory 200R4 position with AC.....Anyone?

Going on vacation in DC. Any tips?

X2 on setting an appointment with your congressman in advance. We got the tunnel tour and walked by a huge crowd of suckers waiting in a 2 hour line. Plan ahead and you won't be sorry. It's true, the hotels in the DC area will screw you. We took the cheap bastard way out and camped on the...

Lear Siegler seats - any interest?

I stumbled on an 84 T type in the yard today that has a pair of rough Lear Siegler seats in it. Some douchbag cut out the turbo Buick emblems but the rest appears to be intact. The drivers seat does not have a power track and they are trimmed out with leather centers and tan fabric on the...

    Which spacers to go with?

My G body Cutlass has the 98-02' LS1 rear brake set up but the factory 15" rims require a .25" spacer to clear them. I've read that if I go with spacers, they should be billet and "hubcentric" meaning the spacer maintains the relationship between the hub and wheel which helps to secure the rim...

One Heck Of A GN Restoration

Wow. And I thought I had more money into my car than it was worth. I'm glad he saved it though.

8.5 1987 posi rear end drum to drum

Good luck finding one in that price range. If you can find a drum to drum rear on Craigslist, racing junk, etc with minimal corrosion, good brakes etc that is ready to bolt into your car for less than $750 it is a screaming deal. I have seen some really nice ones sell for as high as $1300. I...

    Cleaning the Frame

I used a heat gun and plastic scraper for the undercoating then wiped the frame down with paint thinner. After that, I used a wire wheel on a drill to take it down to bare metal. It's a lot of work but get's it done. I usually try to avoid harsh chemicals but may try using oven cleaner next...

    Best Spring Compressor

Good luck with that. I've rented them before and the threaded rod will not clear. I don't know what the Strap On design looks like but none of the tools from Carquest, Advanced or AZ would work for my application. I thought they were built well enough,..just not correct for use on our cars.

Can I remove Windows8 from brand new laptop?

IMO, this is the way to go. If you buy a computer with a pre installed operating system you get the crappy "repair or backup disk", not the full operating system on disk. You want the full operating system so you can wipe a hard drive clean and start from scratch.

Can I remove Windows8 from brand new laptop?

Yes it is possible but I'm surprised you want Vista. It's a real POS operating system and will soon be obsolete with newer applications. I would buy a stand alone copy of Windows 7 and do a fresh install. You can buy Windows 7 from Newegg.com, Amazon etc for $100 + depending on which version...

    Best Spring Compressor

As mentioned, this is possible but it can be a real PITA to get the holes lined up. I've done it 3 times and it's a job that I do not look forward to anytime soon. In my opinion, a quality spring compressor is a safer and easier way to go if used properly.

    Best Spring Compressor

I've also used a jack only because I rented (3) different spring compressors from AZ, Advanced Auto, etc. and none of them would work. I would do it again if needed but it is still a PITA. The strap on tool sounds like the way to go to me.

Wanted - Pair of rust free LS backing plates / dust shield with e brake

Yep....I have a top of the line sand blaster and blast stuff on regular basis but can tell you that of the 3 Michigan Camaro's I've taken apart, none of them had parts worthy of chamber time. You can remove light surface rust but you can't touch heavy pitting. I've wasted my time trying to sand...
