C5 Owners

And I see myself beating you in your C5 with my Buick! At the strip, On the road course, at the Autocross!!!:biggrin::):D

SW.

Hell, I don't need a c5 to beat your jalopy, I got the 240 for that!!! nobody beats the weave Scott....nobody.

And sorry, 1fast6, but from over 39 years of owning a '66 Vette, and 29 years owning this '69, they are FAR from junk.....really insulting.

Not trying to be insultive. I just think for the money they are low quality still a chevy after all.
My 1st vette was a 79 L82 that I bought in 1986. The door handles were always malfunctioning along with the power windows. Bought a 72 vert in 1998. Same issues along with some other stuff.
Bought a new 02 in June of 02(still have it) and it has had both door modules, regulators, motors, tracks, and switches replaced about a dozen times each. Had the harmonic balencer replaced, the fuel sending unit, heads up display, flasher switch, and water pump replaced. This was all with less than 20K on the odometer. Now the fuel transfer pump has **** the bed:mad::rolleyes: car has 30K on it now and just sits in my shop under a cover. To affraid to take it out... kinda like owning a boat:wink:

Wow sounds like you got a pack of lemons...

We bought a brand new one in 92 triple white conv. Only has 8K on the clock. Only problem ever had was from letting fuel get to old. Nothing is broke or malfunctioning...

Have another 92 conv with around 80K I think and haven't had a problem with it in 5 years...

Got an 80 model, no problems with car just an aftermarket carb...

Sold a 98 conv. had it for about 9mnths last year only problem had with that was the power antenna...

I have been around vettes all my life and have never heard of that many problems:eek:

That's the amount of days its goes without misfiring, lol.;) . It did let me down the other day...fuel pump took a chit. Anytime you want a shot at the title let me know.

Why don't you try something like my Z0 Nothing:biggrin: Easy to fix, really easy to make go VERY fast, and handling, well, there's tons of suspension upgrades available to you....the engine is just a Chevy small block, you know how durable and easy to modify they are.....the one below is real, real quick, just snaps your neck and loud as hell.... handles like it's on rails due to the suspension mods I've done.

They are still drivable, too....and as long as I fix them myself, they are not expensive to repair...only when you take one to the shop will you get robbed at gunpoint:rolleyes:

Though, I had a chance to drive an '02 ZO6, it was AWESOME! I just about had an orgasm...and I've driven an '07 ZO6 and HAD an orgasm!!! Two of the most awesome handling, fast Vettes ever! Worth every dime. Vettes are just in a world of their own, a special breed of banshees!! Like the Turbo Regals, only the Vettes don't have a trunk for the trunk monkey nor a backseat!

Insurance? What's that?

Not scared! Mine only weighs 280lbs more than yours and the HP is a tad bit more... Don't be upset if you get beat by a car on regular 300 tread wear street tires! ;)

You know, I just don't know what to say...I understand now why you feel the way you do, as I would, too....just can't understand it, only thing is you probably got a Vette that was made on a Monday or Friday at the assembly line......Hey, you've got my sympathy...if all of that stuff was wrong with a Vette as beautiful as yours and I had it, I'd be one pissed off owner.

Go have a cold beer and know Bruce is on your side, if that helps any. If you need anything else broken on your Vette, just call me...I'm the expert here:rolleyes:

Shane, I had no idea you were so involved in Vettes all of your life and had so many! With all of those beautiful Grand Nationals and TBs you have, I had no idea! I was shocked, but, that's great!!!! Those Vettes are in a class all of their own, just like the TBs.......have you ever heard the sidepipes on a Vette? It just makes me tingle all over (I said TINGLE all over, not TINKLE all over:rolleyes:)
Which is why I'm trying to make my Grand National LOUD at idle and acceleration......there's nothing more sweeter nor more beautiful to my ears than a well tuned, loud engine at idle with the ground shaking.....my eyes are getting wet talking about it!!!!

So, congrats being a Vette owner!

I don't wish for much but just some fun that's all... I don't care if I win or loose as long as we all had a blast doing it....

And at the next TB.com event people will be able to their cars to the test on the first ever autocross at a Buick event!! I look forward to seeing many of these vette's and even that 240!! LOL

Was this really a serious comment? I'm a fan of your car and Im sure you can beat C5's at the drag strip all day long (as most TB's do), but the road course part im not sure about. What road course events have you ran your car at? Do you have a Gopro camera or Youtube video of your car passing C5's? (..I happen to have video of my stock C5 passing another G-body with the same wheels AND brakes as you). ..And something to keep in mind about autox, on any given weekend, somewhere there is a Honda CRX dominating an event.

The first photo shows just one of the many Corvette parts we get made. If you own a C5 you know around the door striker the bezel surround is a cheap black plastic part. We have them made in billet and polished. Several companies chrome plate the striker which gives it a nice touch. Other photo shows the hood strikers we get them chrome plated sell almost to every major Corvette supplier. The big knock on the C5 from magazine writers has always been the Corvette suffers from cheap interiors the C6 has stepped up a little but I am sure lags behind the German cars....

funny thing is I have owned(bought new) several LS powered Ws6 trans am and they were great cars... no issues at all. I have a 2010 LS3 6.2L GMC with 15K on it with no issues. Even take it off raoding and tow all my toys with it.

I want one!!! I've been looking at the hardtop C4's and Z06's. Watching e-bay it seems that a nice Z06 will bid up to around $21K, but will not meet the seller's reserve. Seems that's about what price the market will supply, but seller's are holding them.

Biggest problem with the ls powered, or lt1 too for that matter, camaro's + firebirds was that ridiculous,7.5" rear that would grenade itself on first slick launch,or even any serious beating, even with street tires, especially with a stick car,to put that rear behind that big torquey 350 was suicide, I seriously think that rear was why,the camaro + firebirds died in 2002,everybody knew how weak they were + were afraid of it,I liked those cars the power was great but even with my automatic i was always waiting for the rear to explode, one good side effect was it kept me from beating on the car too much, the mustangs with the little 302 got a big beefy 8.8 since 1986 that is still being used today, throw the 31 spline axles in them + they could handle some really big power, they now come stock with the 31 spline axles, I think since 2005.
I believe the c5's rear is alot stronger then those 7.5's + is fine for street use but is still not up to the task if you start adding power + going to the track.
