Well I have picked up a true gem today I feel:biggrin:

1987 GN Hardtop only 26,578 miles:biggrin: Was not looking to buy but it was 5 minutes from my house and it is almost perfect. I just got to figure out how to remove this pinstripe without killing the paint:eek:

Sweet Ride Shane

Thanks guys! I hate to admit it but, that makes #15:cool:

nice car. as far as removing the pin stripe the body shop i worked at had these things like big pencil erasers that went on a die grinder, erased the stripe ,sticker what ever w/o hurting the paint.i remember in 87 seeing a few new gns with that same pinstring was it an option?

To be honest I thought when I opened the thread I'd see some pic's of a white one, not a GN.

Looks good...

If they are hand painted on,Ive seen profesionals use oven cleaner on a rag

5 minutes and it needs a trailer!!! haha

That is just me! Been trailering cars since I was 16. Kind of a habit I guess. Plus I didn't have a driver and it was a spur of the moment deal. I went expecting to find a 125K mile car advertised as..... Glad I was wrong:cool:

Now you too have one you wont drive:D

Yeah, this one and my original car will be going into a more permanent storage location as soon as it is finished!

That is in the works too!

It is not painted on. My original car came stripped with a white stripe and the elusive "Bobby Labonte Sig Series" The cars came from the same area here in NC. I would bet they came from the same dealership. Alot of dealers installed them. My dad was the GM of a Buick dealership in the 80's and he had a few of the ones they got in stripped. I begged him not to but you know how a Pop's can be:biggrin:
I am going to carry it to a PROFESSIONAL that way if he screws it up I can kill him LOL!!!!!

I am probably going to sale 2 or 3 of my other cars. I have got to many running out of space. My goal is to keep buying and selling them and work my way up to the ultimate, the "X"!

Keep your eyes open in the classifieds for a couple of cars for sale!

That's a really nice looking GN.
I would say it's definitely a keeper.
Good find.

Patrick

Take that sucker right to the chassis shop and start on a chromoly tube chassis! They will appreciate the fact that they wont even get dirty (except for the Buick oil leaks)
On the stripe, get off what you can using a plastic spatula and a heat gun, bug and tar remover on the residual glue and then hand glaze it.
Nice find by the way!

Beautiful car!! Nice find! Sounds like you tow GN's as much as I do. Want a neat little hint on making GN/TR towing (tie downs) even easier and more secure???

I attach a strap hook to each of the "jack point holes", and then criss cross the straps. You know the holes I'm talking about, they're the large ones on the frame. One behind each front wheel, and one in front of each rear wheel.

This way, you're attached to the frame, no stress on suspension components, and no axle straps, etc.

It makes hookup REALLY easy (because my space in cramped inside of an enclosed trailer). Just bend over, and you can "feel" the hook right into the hole!
