Which shoes for S-10 cylinder swap?

Hello everyone,
I changed out my rear cylinders for s-10'sand longer pads awhile back and am considering replacing the shoes/pads now.
I've done many many burnouts with them before I installed my line lock. So very possible my shoes are fried and my drums are glazed... Due to me not holding hardly any boost at the line before launch....maybe 1psi.
Which shoes & drums do I go back with please? GN or the '85 S-10?
Thanks in advance for any help fellas.

I prefer new balance. For years I wore Nike but as I got older, comfort was much more important. Plus I'm slightly flat foot and Newbalance makes shoes tailored for your type of foot. My feet would kill me after working on the cars but now I'm good. (y)

I used one of the long ones for the s10 and one regular size one

Well, just changes out pads with all new brake parts and STILL this bitch wont hold any boost during power braking....
The drums werent glazed, the pads had a little wear. Auto parts guy told me my pads were ok but i wanted to change anyways to see if it would make any difference....NOT!

Buy two sets of new chews, use the four longs ones then return the short ones thinking they weren't sold in pairs.

...sand blast the friction area of the drums for extra holding power.

Running vacuum brakes by chance?

Earl I like you but that's pretty messed up. They will put them back on the shelf and somebody that doesn't know any better is going to get screwed.

Its not the parts house fault we want 2 pairs of shoes. Why cheat them?

I purchased 2 sets of the cheapest (softest) shoes NAPA sells and installed 4 long shoes. I then returned the old ones and unused new ones as 2 sets of cores... Mine holds very well.

No trees were harmed in the sending of this message, however, a significant number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced.

I can't imagine there's much of a difference going with the extra inch or so on 1/2 the shoes. I'm pretty sure the parts stores send them back to the rebuilder or a corporate location. If I had a plain jane Regal or S10 it wouldn't bother me any having 4 'short' shoes on the back. In fact, back when I had a square body S-10 Blazer that's what I did. I put the 4 long shoes on the GN and the short ones on the Blazer. Couldn't tell one bit of difference either way.

TurboDave-
What would be your advice for my vacuum brakes? Get a 2-step or hydroboost conversion?
Thanks in advance everyone!

Really?

I run the longer shoes, S10 wheel cylinders and Vac brakes and hold whatever I want at the line with no problems.
I was thinking of running this setup. What's your experience been with it? As far as holding better, and how it behaves on the street? Thanks for your time. I've seen a few posters
say the brakes were touchy after doing this swap.

Honestly I Was expecting a bigger difference with the s10 cylinders & longer brake pads...
But then again I'm not a brake specialist. I prob have air in the lines somewhere....

Adam28, I primarily use it to race so my other set of pads only saw maybe 200-miles at the most.
