Trans Trouble - the Convertor?

I had my car at the track at at the top end it was banging in and out of lock-up, so I called it a day.

On the way home I got into a little and when it shifted Bang! No more output.

Took the tranny out and saw that I snapped off the splined end on the output shaft.

I had a trans sitting around not used since Len Freeman built it for me. I watched him put it his car and run it so know that trans is OK.

OK here is the problem. When I installed this trans in my car you can't put the car in gear without it stalling. There is No Stall. Once you put it in gear the wheels rotate.

If this trans was built as a none L/U and the convetor is L/U, could this cause the problem. (no way to ask Len)

Or did the convertor somehow lock up and not release?
I thought it might be the TCC solenoid but Len ran it in his car no problem.

Ideas?

OK I now know to look for the check ball in the input shaft. We changed the trans to another lock up I had and no problems.
