stock turbo times... besides Ed Brewer.....?

It's funny how you brought this thread up. Over the last month I have been looking at the old "stock turbo" threads wondering if I should bring this one up to see if anybody has any updates. But I figured if I did I may start spending $$ on my car trying to keep up with everyones updated times and I can't even race it right now..LOL..

THAT is where you want to focus for the best ET's. That means launching the car as hard and fast as possible from a dead stop.

I have proven it can be easily done on BONE STOCK suspension.

My T-type went 11.15 @ 121 / 1.64 60ft with a shot of Nitrous on a stock longblock, stock wornout trans, stock D5 converter...
The chassis was absolutely bone stock and untouched. Only addition was a set of MT Drag radials and an airbag in the RR spring. Still had the stock T-type wheels, front swaybar, factory rear swaybar, control arms, etc...
I left just off an idle with ZERO boost and turned the juice on when my foot hit the floor via TB mounted microswitch.

TIRES are the key ingredient, as they are the ONLY thing connecting your power to the pavement. The best suspension in the world won't help a set of crappy tires... however the best tires in the world WILL help a crappy suspension. ;)

How do you suppose it's possible to run a 9.50 @ 85mph in the 1/4 mile ?
A low 1.20's 60ft and let off after a few hundred feet. (I've done it already)

60ft times are EVERYTHING. :cool:
 
heres my update

had to change the cam (flat lobe) ,went 204/214 so technically im not totally stock but dont really feel this cam is a upgrade over stock ,


few months ago on mt radials (starting to show cords)

then stopped running the 87 as much and focused on getting the 86 running on alky , now thats running good but broke a rocker shaft last wed so i took the 87 back out

last thursday with street tires ( reall street coopers)

got the MPH up to 87.37 108.13 that night,

60 aside every run looks like 12.0- 12.1 is all ill get out of this
i know i can 60 in the low 1.5s with mickey radials but still dont have enough to go 11s on it
havent gotten the boost numbers i want in third (only 24) so will be going to a new HD actuator and with good rubber (thinking of trying 255/60 15 radials) i think i can just break the 11s

Took my white limited out tonight, stock turbo and injectors, has Kenne Bell front mount.... Its about the same size as a stock core.
1.79 sixty foot on 235/60/15 mickey thompson et streets, 2psi launch
12.34 @110 on 19-20psi of boost TODAY :biggrin:

Car has been in storage for 3 years, just got it out here this past week and started playing with it..
Everything is pretty much stock, except for the kb front mount,mease downpipe,air filter, and a 27° / 25° chip that eric and i did in BG a few years ago for another stock injector car i had.

Lots left in it, cant wait till the end of the month

12.3@108 20psi boost, 21deg timing on 93octane. Need to get my alky installed so i can bump the boost and timing.

330 was 4.9
1/8th was 7.80@86

Mods are PTE IC, 009's, MAFTPro, Hooker cat back, K&N, rest is stock

WOT AFR tracking set to 11.0 and wideband was showing 10.8 crossing the line and 1580egt

Razor and i think 11.80 to 11.90 once i get his alky kit installed.

Wow this is a good thread!

We have built a car for this specific purpose, to see what the max a stocker will produce! The car is a full weight TR with a Cage. The car has been built with everything new basically with the expection of the stock turbo and I/C. The engine was built by D.L.S. and Jay Carter is tuning it!

Our goal with the car is a 10.90 :biggrin:

We shall see!

I had massive KR in first, a little in 2nd but none in 3rd.

I had guessed the MPH from 112-113 for the night and 11.90, i did the burnout up to 3rd gear..
Normally i leave it in 2nd and do the 2-3 shift manually on the column, since it was in 3rd, it shortshifted..

The last pass just may have been a 11.90 if i would have remembered to put it into 2nd gear and manually do the shift.
I forgot to mention, the launch was 8-9 psi feathered it out of the hole so it wouldnt spin, and max boost was right at 21.5 - 22.. Convertor locked entire pass.
I am very very pleased with the car, ive been running my timeslips vs. Eds cars timeslips when he was running these tires and combo.

Based on similar 60's his car 1/8th miles .09 better than mine with 2 more MPH, that same pass his car 1/4 mile time was 11.83 at 112.90 But he was running 23psi :tongue:

Over 23mph gain from eighth to quarter kicks a$$. You have a lot more with a 60' in the 1.50's. I was only picking up 22mph when i ran the hell out of the stock turbo long ago. Should be able to hit the 11.60's with a 1.58 60'.
