Stock radiator cooling fan loose at bottom, normal?

For as long as I have owned my 87 GN, the rad fan has been loose at the bottom. I was wondering is that normal? Doesn't seem to be but I've seen stranger. To be clear, if you reach in and grab the fan housing, it's attached at the top but not at the bottom. I looked down to see if maybe something had come loose or broke but don't see any attaching points. When the fan runs it pulls itself up against the rad. Thanks.

There should be a flat bracket at the bottom bolted to the fan then bolted to the core support.
