what size nail is used to hold the manual valve shaft in the case on a 400? A 4d nail is too small, a 6d is too big. I’m not a carpenter, what is in between? Thanks

5d? lol I had to, I'm sorry.

The 200-4r uses a 3/64 diameter "nail" or roll pin, I don't know about the 400 but I wouldn't use a household nail

A 5D nail did cross my mind. I looked for one, but my search came up empty. Like I said, I’m not a carpenter! I thought of trying to find a roll pin the right diameter, but really don’t want to spend a bunch of time re-engineering something that has worked just fine for 50 years and who know how many millions of units. I figured someone in readerland would know

I'm currently missing one in a 200-4r build and am facing the prospect of using a roll pin or tearing into a core for one. I have the gm number but they're long gone from inventory. Roll pin will work fine but they'd probably be more difficult to remove if someone breaks the shift shaft
