JS Kit - Pics !!!

Jason,
The turbos all have the same bolt pattern.
The only piping fabrication is the turbo to the IC and that is
relatively minor, some thing the backyard mechanic or muffler shop
can do for you. You will need the factory 86/87 throttle cable
bracket and cable, too.
Chuck,
Thanks, bud. I appreciate your comments. Yes, it is all
factory and switchable back to HA configuration in just a few
hours, BUT WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO? HEH, HEH lol.

exactly. i'd like to be able to swap back if i had to. 'never know if i may choose to sell this car at some point.

Jason,
That IC in the pic happens to be one of the JS Mfg modified
stock 86/87 - they put their design brackets on it, but you can use
a stock 86/87 IC and brackets, but you will have to cut
the DS bracket because it won't clear the belts. Once in
and clamped to the pipes, the brackets don't do a whole
lot anyway. Or you can bend up rod and drill a couple of holes
and take up the slack for the missing 1/2 of the stock DS
bracket.

okay. so a list of parts:

'86/87 upper plenum/tb/iacv/tps/throttle cable/bracket/IC.

i can use the '85 DP i was gonna purchase for the '85 turbo on the '87 turbo, should i choose to upgrade.

what is a "DS bracket"? i'm sure it will come to me.. it's just that after all the reading i've done, my brain is a bit fried. there is no "official" write-up on how to do this; i've been putting together info from about four different builds.

if i use the '87 turbo, i will have to relocate an oil feed and/or return line? will i have to do it anyway, even on the '85, since the intake is different?

i think i'm catching on. i just want to be sure i have a complete list so i can do this all at once. it's frustrating to be half way through and then have to search for parts. haha.

unless someone does it first, i'll do a COMPLETE, step-by-step how-to on this. i have intercooled88s sending me a TB/plenum/IACV/TPS and will ask him about the bracket. i'm assuming i can find a nice, shiny, new throttle cable anywhere?

i have no way to weld aluminum myself.. so i'll have the plenum patched up when i'm done with it.

do i need any gaskets? i'll be ordering some mandrel bend tubing soon to fab the intercooler pipes.

i think i'm pretty close to having this ready to go. i'm stoked!

KAJ, I hear you and will try to help you out.
I will take, at least to some degree, Chuck's suggestion &
do a write up including a parts list, as well as I can figure it out,
to do this. I have now done it to both my cars and I worked with
both Jay Williams (TurboMotion V 2) & JS when they were
developing their kits. I tried to talk JS into using the 86/87
intake but they were into NIH at the time. So I think
I have some understanding of the in & outs and
frustrations of adding an IC to a HA car!
I will send it e mail to you.

The set up I did on my cars is just a refinement of the JS kit, IMHO.
So, I agree with your opinion of the JS kit. Too bad they didn't keep
going with it! It is back yard simple, too. That is the best part!

i got the email.. just haven't had a chance to download it yet. thanks!

BTW, DS = Driver's side, PS = Passenger side of the engine.
HTH

noted. i guess i should have been able to figure that out. LOL. thanks again!
