Ron N. unknowingly got the discussions going between the 3 organizers of this event. If you plan to attend, please choose where you'd like to stay.
NOTE: No choice is a sure one, we're just looking to see where the interest is.

I sorta think the track shows dates in October, but that's not finalized. Jon will probably be checking into this soon (if he hasn't already).
Thanks for the sticky.

I will be there this year :D

As for hotel...I liked the Silverton and me and a few guys here in Florida will be staying there again this year , I like the fact that the Silverton is not on the strip but not far from it (5 min) and the prices are reasonable.

I like the Main St. Station and its closeness to the track and for walking distance while at the Station for the places around, and also the light show at the canopy, just my 02's worth.

I liked the Silverton better than the Main Street for the accomodations and the casino.

However I hated the LONG LONG walk back and forth to the R.V. park where we were forced to park our trucks and trailers at the Silverton, plus the extra 15 mile drive to the track. On Friday night I got stuck in the ridiculous "freeway" traffic jam on the way to the track in the 90 degree weather and I prefer not to repeat it.

Unless they can move the Silverton to the Main Street area by this fall, , I vote for the Main Street.

Actually,

IdahoGN was just down in Vegas for the PSCA race. He stayed at the Cannery.

What was your opinion of this place IdahoGN?
Location to the track?
Sufficient parking of truck and trailer?
Security?
Cost?

I will be going to this again this year and will bring my truck for you guys to beat up on. I had alot of fun last year. I think it will be even better with a vehicle to race.

Is this going to be open to other turbo vehicles like last year?

the cannery is 5 miles from the track:eek:  it was clean and a nice place to stay with all accomidations.......lots of parking ........cost ......i didnt pay chris chow did.......but its no more than any other place ive stayed............this is where kenny d stayed last year........ill probably stay at the cannery this year

Well, it's a mix; so like we've done in previous years, we'll just work on picking what we feel is the best spot (price, parking, etc.)
Thanks for those who voted.
Moderators: feel free to unsticky this. Thanks

Thanks for the sticky.

When will the dates be finalized?

Thanks for the info.

I was just in Vegas two weeks ago for the Mopars at the Strip. The Cannery had part of the parking lot roped off for the race/show cars.

on a side note, the Cannery was very good to me,I left 2g`s richer:) :)

When is this event? I might need another excuse to go to Vegas:D

Jon said we're going with whatever is on the LVMS website. Checking, we're on October 9th (so our TnT will be the 8th and the race on the 9th). The more the merrier.

Let me spell this out like I do EVERY year.

1. This is NOT a Buick-only event. There is NO way we can afford to rent this track. There are F-Bodies, Mustangs, etc. invited. Historically speaking, their attendance has been small. Saturday evening is the Supra race, not during our event.
2. I do NOT control the weather. Vegas is advertised as "300+ sunny days a year", so if you play the odds, we'll have great weather; I seem to think it's low 80's for the high at the time of year.
3. This is an NHRA track. It is 100% the track's discretion to make sure your car is legal for the times that you plan to run. There has been leanency in year's past, but that is NO guarantee about the coming event.
4. No electronics that control the car. Monitoring equipment is fine. This is to test your driving skills, not your computers'.
5. Breakdown as follows:
Jon has final say on all rules and which cars are allowed to participate.
Craig works with our sponsors and getting the apparel made.
Jack (me) only builds the web page, and tries to answer what questions that come up.
6. If you decide to pre-register, your payment is expected within 2 weeks. We have not set prices yet, but I'll let you know when we do. Your money gets the T-shirts, etc.
7. There is no way that we can make everyone happy, but we do try hard to please you. So if you have suggestions, comments, etc. get in touch with one of us.

We look forward to another successful event this fall. During the post-race party last year, I got the impression that the V-8 Buicks were going to try and get a lot more of them to attend. I would hope that TR's will do the same!

I'll post when the web page is built. It's probably another 4-6 weeks off, so please be patient.

The Cannery is my preferred spot. My pal Ben, who was there last year in the red/black '69 GS, made a call to them and they said they could partition some of the valet parking area for us. Not to be unsociable, but as far as I know the V8 guys will be staying there. I think the SoCal GS Club guys will be at the Cannery.

2nd choice is Main St. Station with it's easy on/off the freeway and proximity to the strip. The Silverton, while parking was nice (but way too far to walk for some of the folks with physical problems), is just too much stress to drive to the track through the traffic. Those of us from the boonies just can't take the traffic.
Also, the food was awful IMHO (especially the steak buffet).

Looking forward to the fun.

Thanks.

I just want to add this is a STELLAR event for the buick crowd-v8 or turbo. The organizers do a great job and the track is the best ive raced at. im for the cannery myself, as i dont care about the "vegas" experience, i go to race. but whatever-i manage to get racing in so....anyone who hasnt gone to this event needs to get it on thier schedule now!! jack and jon are soooooooooo good to us ar buick racers, you wont believe it.

Being involved with the event, I hear quite a wide spectrum of complaints to compliments. Your compliment is truly appreciated. Thanks!

Guess it's too late for me to lay on the compliments.... what Scott said though.

Now Scott, go get the rest of the SoCal guys to commit!

I was happy with the Silverton last year but after looking at the pictures of the Cannery on the net maybe we should check them out. After 22 years of jet noice in the USAF I will feel right at home next to Nellis AFB.
