Before my time but, there was
Santa Ana
We used to talk a lot of trash about Carlsbad. Right now, I'd give my left lug nut to have it back.
I grew up, hanging out every week at OCIR. Looking back, I guess we never realized just how good we had it.
Sad thing is. Ten years from now. We'll all look back on today as the "Good old days", when you could actually drive a hot rod on the streets without getting arrested for doing so.
Dang! I need a drink...

I too miss Carsbad & have many happy memories of it. I recall how we were all trying to break into the 11's at first & how we were always getting hassled for no roll bars. Later on I eventually got my SS/DX Buick into the 8's for the first time there. I also remember be threatened with being permanently banned by Charlie the guy who ran the clocks for going 155 without a chute in my street SBC TT Regal. The air was great & our turbo cars made good power there. That track & people reminded me of the way things were in the 60"s when I first started racing. Fix me a drink also so I can cry in it.
