A buddy of mine has a '85 Firebird V6 and a '68 Camaro 327.

The Camaro has a toasted engine but a good Powerglid tranny.
The Firebird has a good 2.8 and a toasted tranny.

He has access to a engine/tranny combo out of a '85 TPI 305 auto Camaro. The Camaro has the 700R4 tranny.

Will the 305 bolt up to the Powerglide? And will the 700R4 bolt up to the 2.8 V6?

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

i'm pretty sure they will.............it's a chevy bolt pattern......i don't know about the v6 though..........i have a 77 monte that had a 350 in it with a turbo 350 and now it has a 454 with a turbo 400 tranny and they bolted right up..........but now i need a 700r4.........i love my old cars

No small block or big block will bolt directly to a trans that was mated to a 2.8 as the 2.8 has its own funky bell housing bolt pattern which requires a corrosponding 2.8 style trans.

To answer your question simply any of the SBC, BBC, or 4.3 V6s will interchange as far as the trans bolt pattern is concerned but the 2.8 is different than all the above.
