I filled my car up the other day with 93 octane. I have put 124 miles since my fill up and I am already at just above 1/4 of a tank.......

Could be your fuel filter. Happened to me recently-mileage went from 20-22 on the hwy to around 10. I replaced the fuel filter and all was good.

Hi,
These cars are pretty bad about gas when you're on it a lot. Mine shares your 42.5lb injectors, and I wonder if they are extra wasteful. I don't drive mine as a daily vehicle, so when I do get it out, I am prone to a lot of hard driving. As a result, I have no idea what my fuel economy is under daily, normal use. I think the stock cars were rated at 17/25 or so, but all that changes when modified and hammered. I brought my TTA from another state when I bought it,and it was getting 26mpg on the interstate, largely stock,so they can shine when you are just toodling along. The Ttype never got over 22mpg on short trips on the highway, and I would be ecstatic if it would pull that in current trim. My current fuel economy around town is about 16 mpg,but you heard the story on my heavy foot. The bottom line is, if you want a fast car, it is gonna take extra gas to fuel it. Look at it this way,if you were driving an old musclecar, let's say a 1970 Mustang 428 CJ,with an auto and 3.50 gears,it would run the quarter in the low 14s or so,weighs 3500 lb or so,and gets 12 miles to the gallon,if you're lucky. So the Buick V6 has eclipsed the old cobrajet, and stock it runs the same time. Other opinions are why I comment,so bring em along, friends!

Mine is pretty bad on gas also but I do tend to "give it the business" a lot lol :) I geerally get about 130-150 miles per tank in the city.

I see, so you are in agreement. These are typical gas hogs, and require extra fuel to go fast. It's the way of the world,my friend.

I notice it a lot more if I havent driven the buick in awhile. Get used to the daily driver getting 18-22 city, then hop in the buick and it feels like you have a gas leak. Never tried calculating city mileage but if I keep my foot out of it on the highway I do get 21mpg+ in hilly terrain. This is also with 42s.

I just got over 22 mpg on the trip to BPG Hebron OH Nationals, but around town I'm lucky to get more then 13 mpg. I check my mpg every tank.

I average 11.4 mpg with zero wide oPen throttle highway

I was getting a liitle over 8 mpg before I fixed my lockup issue but for
Some reason I can't get any fuel mileage

It's very doubtful that your mileage is as bad as your figures show. The only way to calculate mileage is to, well, you know, I am sure.
Below are figures for both my '09 CTS-V & my '87 turbo Buick. Cadillac figures reflect the actual calculated mileage and that from the computer calculations.

Reading your signature, the air filter from KB isn't the "Ram Air" one is it? I had one back in the day and it slowed the car down in the 1/4 mile. What is your A/F ratio when you are cruising on the highway? I'm running Eric's Speed Density chip and set the lean cruise to 14.7 a/f ratio, this chip really helped my mpg numbers. Check the dip stick for fuel smell, and the spark plug wires & plugs(If I pull a plug, I'm replacing it, there so cheap). Are you running a cat converter? If so it may be clogged... also don't overlook the fuel filter. Ever check how much drag you have on the wheels? Jack up the car and spin all the wheels to make sure you don't have a brake or bearing that's to tight or the parking brake isn't releasing as it should. Have you done a compression check lately... this would indicate what condition the motor is in, I found a wiped cam lobe by doing this in the past.

I have 60lbs injectors, non lu converter, and 373 gears mine likes gas to. You are not alone.:D

That's one of the reasons I quit driving around with C16 in the car. That and everyone wants to see the car go. I just couldn't say no :D

I'm not sure how to tell about the air filter
It's purplish in color and about 3" in dia in front and about 6 in back where
It connects to Maf pipe
Engine has approx 1,500 miles
No cats
I'll check af while driving and get back thanks.
I have powerlogger Would this show anything that might
Help and if so what speed and how long would you like me

If you can see your air filter you don't have the KB ram air.. it would be an enclosed air filter. I just calculator 12.7 mpg on my last fill up. Best ever was 22 on a 360 road trip with no boost. Low teens is average if you're city driving and getting into it ever so often. Lower temp from the 160 will make you less efficient, but that is what most run for the performance aspect. 17/25 was in stock form and the EPA rating in which they were trying for the best they could get. Finally don't go off the gas gauge, they suck on these cars. Have to calculate after fill ups for the best estimate of MPG.

Poppy, post up some scanmaster numbers and make sure that l/u is working.

22-25 out of mine, some tasteful mods and I drive it like a true classic. But don't get me wrong, I'm not getting beat by a ricer on the street. It will hold it's own, 11.30 car. My fast car runs low 8's in the 1/4, 64 GTO with a 535 CI Pontiac canted valve motor, 1038 HP, N/A. And it gets about 1320' to a gallon.
