Hello all....
New to this site and Buicks in general, but all that's about to change.

My dad who lives in Ohio, gave me an 82 Regal limited he bought in 82 from an insurance company after it was stolen and recovered. The front clip, doors and deck lid were missing. He bought all the missing parts, put the car in his garage and never put it together...in 27 years. It has 774 original miles on the odometer.

I went to Ohio in October, put the body back together and trailered it to my home in Florida to do a complete restoration....and here begins the fun.

I have a 68 Camaro I just finished complete resto on and I'm very mechanically inclined, but new to buicks, and v6's in general.

Hopefully, I can pick a few brains out there during this resto to keep me moving along and get the Regal on the road.

...Jeff

wow.... that is a nice car. If you have any original radio pieces or dash trim let me know. That car is worth a pretty penny IMO because of its low original miles.

What do you plan on using for a powerplant? You gonna leave it original or something more interesting?

Nothing special..For now..30 over pistons, fresh heads, 4bbl, a spicy cam and dual exhaust, just want to get it up and running so I can flog it a little.

x2
are you going to put a drawthru turbo on that car?

Drawthru Turbo?? What is this strange language you speak, tell me more.
I'm an old school gear head with old school knowledge, but I am interested in all things that make power and go fast.

Awesome project!!! If I were you though, Id look for a 4.1L Buick to put in it instead. If the 3.8 is out, why not? Get a good set of ported heads from the board here, put some 10.5:1 pistons, stock GN cam, headers, and your good to go!

Polzin is right. And if I remember correctly you gotta bump compression up to get any power out of the Buick 6. You can get some power out of the 3.8, but as always, bigger is better

The block's already been bored and prepped and parts on order, I need to get it running to free up valuable garage space.
But that doesn't mean I can't do an egine swap later and sell this one  I'm sure someone could use a de-weezed 3.8

you could always hit it with some nitrous! Are you putting a turbo crank in it?

you guys all know there isnt any horsepower to be made in NA form.

the MINIMUM required compression to make horsepower on a buick is 11.3:1

Ask Smokey if you dont believe me.

Yeah that's true. Can't expect nothing out of them unless you turbo them:rolleyes: You could always sell that motor you rebuilt and put a 455 in it too:cool:

Actually...I'm mostly inclined to V8 it down the road, no substitute for cubic inches as they say, but for now just a driver..later, wolf in sheeps clothing.

Got the engine compartment all cleaned up and waiting...

If you're going V8 then I'd say get a Buick 350 or 455. Tons of torque and it doesn't take much to make the work really well.
