109 block limits??

What is issue with the blocks? Is the cast iron poor quality or do they flex under heavy power, main cap distortion? Or is it just general failures from poor tuning?
The problem is they were never designed to be over 400hp and we regularly double that. JW@165-170hp per hole!

I had one that lasted a bunch of 9.7-9.8 passes....for about 3-4 years. Then one day the cam sensor ring moved and a huge backfire occurred. A few passes later I lost oil pressure. Had a crack that went from one of the main studs all the way to the cam journal. The cam bearing then walked out leaving a huge oil leak inside the engine. When all was said and done, I had to cut the crank 10 and replace one rod and obviously the block. The new block is still going after 4 more years of abuse.
A good tune will keep it going. I had one but one mishap at the higher hp is all it can take. But that backfire I had was huge....I still hear it today lol. I don't think many motors would have come out of that unscathed.
