    Strocking an engine?

I prefer bore to stoke when you consider the mass of the revolving parts. Adding stroke significantly increases piston speed and the progression is geometric in nature. Adding bore allows for larger valves to move the needed air more efficiently and gains on volumetic efficiency. The flip...

Chevelle running badly but still "killed "two GN's.

I was out at Pacific Raceway with billsgn today and I must say he is REALLY a class act. I was running poorly but still had a chance to line up with two GN's. Same results with them ending up looking at my taillights by the end of the 1320. I did have to chase them both down as I was...

Anyone going to the BOP at Pacific

BOP at Pacific Raceway billsgn - thanks for the input on my Chevelle falling on its face at the 1/8 mile for a couple of seconds. Tried raising the float levels but that did not turn out to be the probem and it richened the mix too much for my liking. Your 2nd though appears to be highly...

Anyone going to the BOP at Pacific

If my wifes sugery goes well on Wednesday I plan to be there.

BOP Race at Bremerton this Saturday!

boostedmaxPSI - I'm sure it is just a matter of time before we meet up at Bremerton or Pacific. I was hoping to meet up with you and Geno tomorrow but my wife is scheduled for some serious surgery on Wednesday and I need to be home. Are you driving your car to Bremerton? I do know how...

BOP Race at Bremerton this Saturday!

Bremerton I was there Friday night and spent some time with Geno. He had the fastest street car there Friday night with a Chevelle coming in 2nd. (Not mine.) This was the first real time at the track for my car and I was very happy to be told I need to get a roll cage! I ran absolutely...

Header clearance issue - Can the lower "ears" be cut back?

Bruce.... Thanks in advance for cutting back the "ears". You shouldn't be upset for any issue with my tranny until you get it open! I am completely open to the possibility that I could have some responsibility, with the entire vehicle being new and 600+ ft pounds of torque slamming...

Has Anyone Made a "Pit" in Your Garage?

So, I probably should stop inviting gearheads over to drink beer and use the 6 foot deep (16 feet long) pit I have in my shop? If I ever sell I'll just call it a "root celler" and put a sack or two of potatoes in it.:D

Header clearance issue - Can the lower "ears" be cut back?

I would like to set up my 2004R for one person dropping and installation. The problem is in the header clearance in my application (69 big block Chevelle with 2" Hooker headers.). I have to have a 2nd person to help lift and turn the tranny to get it above the headers, even with the passenger...

New 2004R only works in R and D!? No 1, 2., or 3 manual operation.

I have just finished my 69 Chevelle SS and for the first time went to the track. The first run I put it in drive and the tranny shifted at about 4500 RPM, way below the power band! Well I thought no problem I will just use the B & M pro-stick shifter and manually shift the tranny. I put it...

Tacoma WA, 69 SS Chevelle may be finished this weekend. Racing anyone?

onefastjackass - I have a fairly stock rear suspension with only a rear sway bar added. The problem with breaking rear end parts is usually a problem when running slicks and with stick shift cars. The street tires slip enough to keep things from breaking as easily.

    other cars revving at you

Dang, I do that all the time just to say hi! Of course I am smiling and if the window is down, waving at the same time. Around here it seems to be just a good natured hello to a fellow gearhead.

Tacoma WA, 69 SS Chevelle may be finished this weekend. Racing anyone?

John DiCarlo, I have been beat many a time at the track and beat many others too. It is all about the fun we have win or lose! I do note that my N/A SBC Corvette's time on street tires still is just a tad better than the time you post. You would not be looking at my taillights but you would...

    69 Chevelle SS

I will plan on being there. I may have a few WOT issues to sort out but that won't affect showing the car. I did a WOT blast today and had a couple of issues. First, ping on 92 octane at higher RPM so I will first try mixing a bit of 110 with the 92 octane as I like the current idle and off...

    69 Chevelle SS

Hello to everyone from the NW. I have never been into this section of the site before and I was invinted in to say hello. If you check out my signature line you will see I have several "nice" cars that should be fun to match up with at the track. THe GN's and TT's were a bit later than the...

Tacoma WA, 69 SS Chevelle may be finished this weekend. Racing anyone?

I will keep in touch with you guys. I don't care about the boost or octane........ just leave on the street tires! I will see if I can get a few El Camino/Chevelles to show up at Pacific Raceway if we can work out a day that will work for a few of us. My car if a full street duty pro-touring...

Tacoma WA, 69 SS Chevelle may be finished this weekend. Racing anyone?

As much as I would like to meet some of your GN gearheads it will be the first time the Chevelle is going to be on the road for anything more than a shakedown cruise and the first time the Chevelle is put to WOT for more than a burnout or a few hundred yard run. I want to stay closer to home...

Tacoma WA, 69 SS Chevelle may be finished this weekend. Racing anyone?

All finished but for a couple of bugs that I can deal with later. If the weather is good next weekend I will head out to Bremerton if they are doing a test and tune day Firday night, Saturday or Sunday. Where are all the Seattle area people? Always more fun if you are not going alone. I...

Tacoma WA, 69 SS Chevelle may be finished this weekend. Racing anyone?

I may finish my 69 Chevelle SS this weekend. I hope to have the car ready for the track early in July on full street tires, not even drag radials! I hope to be in the 12's so it isn't a total slouch as this car was a factory 375 HP "396" with the aluminum heads and solid lifters. I have made...
