    1986 Buick GN

1986 Buick Regal Grand National for sale with 81K miles. I'm the third owner and have owned the car for over four years. During that time I've installed an updated CPT44 Turbo, a cold air kit, a new fuel pump and, to thrill those who know Grand Nationals, I've replaced the troublesome and...

86 Grand National in San Francisco

Our 86 GN is for sale. THE GOOD: It has 79k original mileage and I'm the third owner. It has a Cotton CPTE 44 Turbo, installed about a year ago. The Powermaster brake system was replaced about the same time with a MasterPower vacuum system with backup vacuum pump. It has a cold air intake...

    cold starting problems

I can't figure out what's going on but I'm tired of dealing with it and want to fix it. Everything is running great on the GN except when I try to start the car when the engine is cold,.. like overnight cold. Then, I have to crank it three or four times, for about 5-10 seconds each, before it...

    windshield leak

Discovered a leak along the top of the windwhield, right by the rear view mirror. I'm thinking I can just pull the top moulding away from the body and leave the windshield in place. Then, I can epoxy the entire width of the top windshield and replace the mouldings. What do you guys think?

    It's time

I've the GN for a couple of weeks now and have had a lot of fun beating poser's with "wings" on front drive vehicles with spray can painted calipers. As I mentioned in another thread, this Buick is quicker than my Camaro and probably just as fast in the 1/4(13.3/101). But, now, like the...

    leaking trunk

Discovered what everyone tells me is a common problem, a leaky trunk. It seems that there's rust underneath the window panel by the right trunk hinge. Probably water gathered in that spot because of a plugged drain hole. I can feel the loose rust underneath the panel. What's the best...

    1st time a walk

Now, first of all, I don't like street racing in any of my cars. It's too dangerous and, here in the Bay Area, I can go to jail and my car in inpound for 30 days. I don't even want to think what would happen to my GN while at inpound. Anyway, my wife and I are on our way home from the Sacto...

    car stalls

It's happened twice in the last two weeks. First someone cuts me off driving in the city. I hit the brakes hard,.the car stalls. Just restart and go. Next, yesterday. My wife exits the freeway a little too fast. The offramp is one of those 25 m.p.h. jobs that has a sharp turn to the right...

    rear seal question?

My rear main seal is leaking(what's new),..and my mechanic wants to pull the tranny to replace it. Because I haven't worked on these cars before(owned for 2-weeks), does he also have to pull the oil pan and main bearing? Or can he get to the seal after pulling the tranny and flywheel? Thanks

    injectors, exhaust manifolds, etc.

Who sells the best injectors for a stock car that are California legal? Also, exhaust manifolds and stock connector pipe to the cat from the manifold? I want to keep my car stock and Calif. legal, but, at the same time, solve the idling and smog problems that I dealt with during the last smog...

    help!

After a week and a half at a "gross polluter" Calif. smog station, over a grand in repairs, my new 86, totally stock, GN finally passed California smog. The mechanic still thinks something is wrong and the vehicle will fail again, but, short of replacing everything, he doesn't know what...

    old question

I'm new here, having just bought an 86 GN, so forgive me for asking this question you've probably read a thousand times before. I notice on all the Buick literature, my car is rated at 235hp, 330lbs/tq. What have you guys discovered are the real numbers? Thanks

    I'm new

I just bought(sort of) an 86 GN, completely stock and pristine, with 55k from the original owner(sort of). I've always wanted one of these cars. They look great, fast as stink, but never really thought I would get one. However, a couple of weeks ago, my wife and I were cruising down El...
