best way to launch from a roll?

I can never get a a race from a dig. Nobody wants to do that anymore against a GN because they know what's going to happen. I will do whatever they want, however they want, give them the move, a couple of lengths, whatever so My car can beat their car and they can go spread the word about TR's.

whats the best way to launch our cars from a roll race? what do you find is the best?
Depends what you're racing too. If you're racing a mitsubishi or chrysler product, do a 35MPH roll. They'll have to either start high in 2nd and shift right away or start low in 2nd - either way giving you time to spool. For hondas and fords, Ive learned that about a 30mph roll will catch them off guard enough for you to spool up and leave. Brakeboosting will be your best friend for roll races, but if you're opponent has bottle/higher and better gearing dont expect to jump out on them.... my .02 cents

Soo yeaa... who would like to seem them two run from a Dig! Roll racing is fun if you ask me jus get a lil scarey sometimes with these newer cars and there handling abilities. Ill put a few cars on em and let em do the fly by and weave in and out of traffic. 2 cents... get em to slow down enough to were your trans can drop to second and your putting Buses on em. Ive also had success pullin these new vettes riding brake till I smell em and launching.

I would experiment quite a bit with brake boosting. See what your car feels like at 5, 8, 10 psi etc. I find if I brake boost to high, like 15psi I smoke my drag radials. It will also depend a lot on your converter. Right around 10psi is my sweet spot, I get a hard launch, a little wheel spin then it just pulls hard.
I will say for the guys that can launch these cars from a dig on the street, I'm impressed. That or your car is not that fast. My car blazes my MT drag radials as soon as boost comes on. Granted I'm running 30psi.

^^^

Yep...the folks that are serious these days are making way too much power just to hit it from a light. Gotta roll, or go somewhere where you can do a big burnout and spray some pimp juice.

Why do people trash talk roll racing so much? Plenty of times just cruising around that people have wanted to roll race me. I guess you guys just stop on the freeway and hold up traffic? lol If they want a race they are getting it under any conditions...roll or stopped!

As for techniques....buy Pro-Efi...use rolling anti lag!!! :wacky:

Isn't racing from a roll a better gauge of power than from a stop on the street? Also from a roll you bring a lot less attention to yourself...

Street racing is a no go in my opinion.

Street racing has been around a long time. Growing up in the south, that's all you had. Back in the 60's drag strips were far and few between . Most racing was stop light to stop light. Or back roads. How do you think Nascar got its start.

Before I bought my car roll racing was pretty much the only thing my truck did well, it was all I had on the street. I could do 5-24 roll, and 35-45 roll and eat up 300m/rt chargers. Was funny from a roll with my trailer (1500lbs) hitched with 1000-1200 lbs on it eating my buddies 300 till I felt like letting off, while rolling 33x12.5-18s at 107lbs per corner... If I launch with the safety bs off I just spin or torque management kills it after it catches (computers way of thinking it is saving itself), need at least a 5-10 roll. Newer vehicles nannies suck.

Maybe I'm too old school but I still check the worthiness of a car on it's 0-60 times.

The magazines still test those at the track and it's usually hard to replicate the results on the street. Additionally, they are starting to measure 60-120 times on the high powered cars. I agree with you though. But look at what even an 11 sec car like mine 0-60's at the track in a good 1.5x 60'; easily in the mid to high 2 second range. I'll never do that on the street.

Drag racing on the street has evolved unfortunately. Its not all about synergy with your car. Its all about how many hp you can get without regard for tires/suspension/racing technique. This is obviously just my opinion from what I have seen first hand.

Sent while curing depression with boost.

While rolling I have played with
1- The 2 step
2- Brake boosting
3- Second gear

My favorite is second gear @ 3 - 3.5 RPM especially against stick shift cars. At that rpm range the boost is already on the way up with out touching the brakes and full boost will be just about instant.

The 2 step is fun most think that you are back firing because of issues and not really ready for the GO.
