    Not sure if this helps but i removed the bumperettes and filed the holes square, polished the caps of some stainless carriage bolts with a da sander and then a buffer wheel and stainless paste, and bolted them in place. Doesn't look out of place because some cars and trucks had carriage bolts...

    on any stock vehicle i've seen the nut was taken down until it stops, hence the reason for the threads being the length they are. i just took the links off my blazer and this was the case, and i remember the same on my regal. maybe i've been doing it wrong.
