Ego kill; Police / US Soldier Confrontation.

First and foremost, the kid does have an attitude problem. Secondly, there was no need by the police officer to step forward. Both parties are wrong in this case. Just because you are a police officer with a background being a marine does not give you the right to be Mr. Badass cop. The kid should learn how to play chess and learn how to get a point across effectively, cleverly and most of all without an attitude. All in all, it's cops like this, who have an attitude issue that cause the issues where us the public do not like cops.

On a side note, your parents can go to jail for beating their child. SO WHAT GIVES THE COP THE RIGHT TO LAY A FINGER ON THIS KID?! If the kid stepped forward, I can see that because he was just jumped in his own place, got loads of adrenaline going through him, annoyed pissed off and everything. So let's understand it from his perspective. Add to the fact it took the cops 45 minutes to respond. You have an easily tweaked citizen. Let's mix in a cop with an attitude problem, because he is a cop while being a marine before that. The situation is asking for trouble.

All in all, I see more fault on the cop side than the kids, regardless of him needing an attitude adjustment no matter what the situation. His training in the U.S. military should have taught him that.

Kid took a beat down and was upset, cops got upset; if you are a cop dealing with, not reacting to this behavior is part of your job not pushing him farther.
Cops wrong 1 for the kid.

Why they took 45 minutes to respond is anybodies guess but an explanation would have gone a long way to defusing the situation instead of giving an already volitile situation more fuel. Cops turned a situation they could have defused into a pissing contest.
Cops wrong 1 more for the kid.

Cops could have told the kid to shut up and sit here while we go talk to the other party.
Cops wrong 1 more for the kid.

Kid lacked respect.
Kid wrong 1 for the cops.

Kid vented his frustration on someone who did not deserve it; he did not know why it took 45 minutes.
Kid wrong 1 more for the cops.

After they take him down they try to defuse the situation, be nice and get personal?
Cops wrong 1 more for the kid.

Most cops hide behind the badge, do not respect it and abuse their authority. Don't whine or tell me how dangerous it is and expect sympathy. They like the adrenaline rush and the perks but do not want the responsibilities. LE's believe they are above the law; tell me I'm wrong!
Can't handle people or stress, quit!

My $.02

Clearly that WANST the hood... No need for the aggression, 2nd, shouldn't the officers have been aware that the reporting party was a victim of assault? Maybe they'd know he has some adrenaline pumping?!? Maybe EMPATHY vs. being argumentative dicks.... Softness overcomes hardness.

It's a catch 22. I don't think anyone should hit anyone because we aren't animals for fux sake, but we are animals and have that stuff embedded in out DNA. Put in on record that I think there are aliens and they don't want to come here because we look like a bunch of retards for killing each other.

im sorry faster but you are wrong! we are not above anything or any law. are you a cop hater or couldnt make as one. not all police abuse their authority. responsibility? have you ever had to pull a child from a car accident rush them to the hospital in the police car because ems cannot get there in time. only to have that child die when you get their? i bet not . then to continue your shift and not let it affect you and then go home and act like nothing happened because you dont want to worry your wife or family? i dont think you have any idea about responsiblity. maybe you should go talk to a few cops instead of your insults towards cops. maybe then you would have a better sense of what le has to go through. just my 2 cents lol.

your last paragraph was argumentative so that was my response. not all cops are bad. and not all cops hide behind the badge or miss use it.

I hope that wasn't a reply to me

i hate when LEO say "you must be a cop hater" or " couldn't make the force" this is the typical answer you get when you disagree with them.

in the video above, let change the scenario, to guy waiting for a couch, pizza whatever

in any other business the employee would be terminated if they showed 45 minutes late

if a customer complained that their order was late and got tackled, the employee would be terminated

but guess things change when you have a badge

NYPD officer, Frank Serpico, stated in testimony before the Knapp Commission investigating police corruption that, "Ten percent of cops are absolutely honest, ten percent are absolutely dishonest, and the other 80% wish they were honest."

and before you call me a "cop hater" when my younger bro-in-law surprised me with I wanted to be a cop, i told him the day he becomes LEO i would give him my 19K mile 86 GN, figured its a small price to pay to have a good cop out there.

respect is earned buy your actions not by the costume you wear

my condolences to the family of the officers who lost their lives due to the recent tragedy by the coward ex-LAPD officer

I miss GNBrett he would say "in every line of work you get that one guy thats a complete a$$hole"

and i would reply "yea but plumber's dont carry guys and have the ability to arrest people"

LMAO!! Us Soldier Bro....really.. What a tool. Now the whole world saw him get slapped and dropped.

You need to let go of your fantasy police world and see reality. Try to objectively observe your fellow officers, try. You may be the one in one hundred who does not take advantage of their badge and abuse its priviledges and if you are I commend and respect you. But, I'm 60 years old was born, grew up and fought every day to save my hiney in the projects on the west side of Buffalo, New York and have observed LE's for decades. I have relatives who are LE's, my sister is an assistant DA, her husband is a sargeant in the sheriff's department and they all believe they have special priviledges when it comes to the law.

You have to deal with tramatic situations so what? People deal with them every day from all walks of life. I was a safety officer in a hospital dealing with tramatic situations and people dieing every day; could I let it effect my judgement? No! You don't get to either. I had to go home and act like noting happened because I have two kids and for five years now I've also volunteer counsel in the juvenile detention system and work with probation officers counseling ex-cons. So don't tell me about tramatic situations effecting your judgement.

Responsibility? I have been responsible for million dollar budgets and whole divisions of staff before I left the corporate world. In the hospital people's lives rested on my my responsibilities and procedures to insure regulations were followed. So get off your high horse and look objectively at your world.

I have too many personal encounters where LE's acted as judges instead of police, fostering their personal agendas to have any respect for them. Take off the rose colored glasses and see "MOST" LE's as they really are.

your last paragraph was argumentative so that was my response. not all cops are bad. and not all cops hide behind the badge or miss use it.

Never tried to be argumentative, never pointed a finger ant anyone, "I stated it was my $.02". Just an opinion that some are taking personally and truning it into an argument.

Mikey

re read your last paragraph as stated. you direct your cop hating towards cops. now step into a police officers shoes try and make a decision that takes most lawyers and jurys weeks. we have to make in seconds with little information I AM not on any horse im just saying AGAIN its not so cut and dry from a video. but people that have had a negative experience with le can use this to bash police. just my 2 cents and i stated before respect is earned not given it stands for both sides.

not all cops are bad. and not all cops hide behind the badge or miss use it.

your right not all cop are bad, not all cops hide behind their badge, but even when they commit a crime they are protected/hide by their badge and that is a problem.

i always hear "criminals do not have rights" from cops is know but i guess there is always the exception.

example "police officers bill of rights"

3303. When any public safety officer is under investigation and subjected to interrogation by his or her commanding officer, or any other member of the employing public safety department, that could lead to punitive action, the interrogation shall be conducted under the following conditions. For the purpose of this chapter, punitive action means any action that may lead to dismissal, demotion, suspension, reduction in salary, written reprimand, or transfer for purposes of punishment.

(a) The interrogation shall be conducted at a reasonable hour, preferably at a time when the public safety officer is on duty, or during the normal waking hours for the public safety officer, unless the seriousness of the investigation requires otherwise. If the interrogation does occur during off-duty time of the public safety officer being interrogated, the public safety officer shall be compensated for any off-duty time in accordance with regular department procedures, and the public safety officer shall not be released from employment for any work missed.

key work "public safety officer" i think most cops have forgotten about that part, how many people that you arrested were being paid/compensated while they were being interrogated?

(b) The public safety officer under investigation shall be informed prior to the interrogation of the rank, name, and
command of the officer in charge of the interrogation, the interrogating officers, and all other persons to be present during the interrogation. All questions directed to the public safety officer under interrogation shall be asked by and through no more than two interrogators at one time.

Like Faster, i'm also in the healthcare field and deal with death everyday, best friend is a ER nurse pretty sure i dont have to tell you what he sees everyday.

also like Faster i grew up in a very dangerous neighborhood, only difference there was very little fighting, mainly just shooting, they day a kid was murdered on our front lawn my dad decided it was time to move, luckily at that time my parents were in a better financial position and we moved to a upper middle class neighborhood which probably saved my life. due to my diverse up bringing i have friend and family in all walks of live from a cousin and friends who are doctors, cops whatever to a cousin who's doing 15 years for attempted murder.

twelve years ago i was introduced to a top criminal lawyer at a family bday party, we insistently hit it off over our passion for the Dodgers, while watching a game from his base line seats hes telling me about a case he had, i tell him half serious/joking that if he need a fresh set of eyes or maybe a different perspective to let me know you see i have always had a interest for the legal system, surprise when i was in high school i wanted to be a cop even went on a few ride a longs, cant tell you how many times ive read through the discovery and found so many lies from cops, best is when i read the cops conclusion/statement they turn in to the DA and then watch the video from squad car and its obvious the cop is lying. I ask my buddy how they can get away with this he tell me "most time the defendant will take a plea deal to avoid doing any serious time, cops know this and that juries will always give a cop the benefit of the doubt.

yes not all cops are bad, but if you cover for a bad cop, a cop that is violating peoples civil rights that makes you a co-conspirator, and not a good cop sorry

well i have to disagree daves87 no one ever stated criminals do not have rights and in fact they have more rights then law abiding citizens. police officers have more rules and regulations then most other jobs and are punished more often then you realize. only 1/2 of a percent miss use the badge . thats a better percentage then clergy men. but i also have to say that if my opinion makes a certain few angry or feel the need to critcize. its just an opinion my response has been only to state that its not so easy to judge from a video. and now im the bad guy because i have a certain job.or opinion
