Board Upgrades - Everyone PLEASE Read and Comment

I'm here for the content. The platform is pretty much not important.

It does but Tapatalk is my absolute last resort for a mobile app for here. Its a chinese app and they have an awful license model.

Got it. I run it on 2 boards I admin - users love it.

Both run SMF though - I don't think there's a standalone mobile app for that yet.

Ive got to run out and do some server maintenance but before I go... this is why I hate Tapatalk and why we wont use it here.

When you buy Tapatalk for your board, I think its $1800 for the Android and iPhone versions. This is a one time purchase and when they upgrade the client, without paying again, you dont get the update. Thats not even what turns me off from them tho although thats more than enough. What turns me off from them is lets say we installed it here. So there is a TurboBuick Tapatalk application for this board. The regular Tapatalk app that they also sell in the market will still work here. That seems like double dipping to me and incredibly crappy.

That style seems fine after looking at a few of those links. Does it have an opt out option for forums? Would there be some way to save photos and then reinsert them? Some of the old posts photos are still relevent if researching something. Oh, don't forget the Girls with Buicks thread.;)

The haters will keep on hating. No matter what you do, someone won't like it.

Go ahead and do whatever you have to do to KEEP TB.COM GOING!!!!!!!!

99% of us are behind whatever you need to do.

First of all, thanks to all of you guys that spend hours keeping this place alive. I've ran some small boards and sites before and know first hand just how much work goes into. A site this large must be even more challenging. So thank you!

Seems the change is inevitable and best for moving forward. We really need to think about the future expandability of the site and functionality. Change isn't easy especially as we all get comfortable in the familiarity of the site but it really seems it's best for the long term common good here.

Jay do what you think is best. We have become accustomed to having a fast, easy board to use and that is in large part to people like you putting the time into it for free. Thanks for your continued help and services for free.

I'm very concerned(bad) about the faceb**k integration. Will apps be able to pull information from the board contents?
Privacy is my concern, keeping ones entities separate.

This board is already linked to Facebook and has its own Facebook app so it wont be much different.

I say "go for it!"

Let's keep up with the latest and greatest to make this website better.

Jay, you and Shane have done such a fine job with this board. I appreciate all that you guys do and have done to make this the best Turbo Buick website!

Im going to go ahead and convert my cycling forum probably this week and schedule TurboBuick. When its on the books, Ill give you guys a heads up. At least doing my cycling forum is a much smaller ordeal so if it ends up sucking, at least we wont have to find that out here.

When you convert the other forum see if it keeps all the pics Jay. If not I'd like to be able to save the ones on my threads so if I have to post everything again I can make sure it has pics for instruction purposes.:) Thanks.

Im thinking that if the attachments are moved back into the database, they will probably move over. Gonna make the database huge tho. Its about 3GB now and thats without pictures, etc.

3+G of characters.... There is a TON of info on this thing... I wonder how many books that would equate too?
