Fontana to close?

a couple more.......

I've raced at.

the original Fontana raceway on foothill. (in the 1960's)
the original Ontario Motor speedway, (in the 1970's)

Before my time but, there was
Santa Ana

We used to talk a lot of trash about Carlsbad. Right now, I'd give my left lug nut to have it back.

I grew up, hanging out every week at OCIR. Looking back, I guess we never realized just how good we had it.

Sad thing is. Ten years from now. We'll all look back on today as the "Good old days", when you could actually drive a hot rod on the streets without getting arrested for doing so.

Dang! I need a drink...

I too miss Carsbad & have many happy memories of it. I recall how we were all trying to break into the 11's at first & how we were always getting hassled for no roll bars. Later on I eventually got my SS/DX Buick into the 8's for the first time there. I also remember be threatened with being permanently banned by Charlie the guy who ran the clocks for going 155 without a chute in my street SBC TT Regal. The air was great & our turbo cars made good power there. That track & people reminded me of the way things were in the 60"s when I first started racing. Fix me a drink also so I can cry in it.

Brotherhood and Carlsbad were great. No hassles, just fun racing.
their shutoffs were similar, one was water the other a dirt wall :D

yea the good old days, i remember running at LACR, and Terminal Island

Had lots of fun at TI,

I remember one night they had the jet car there, and had the chain link fence behind the staging lanes glowing red

and who could forget the ruts at the starting line

I remember many times while still in High School going there after a back yard boogie was shut down by cops, getting in three or four hot laps before they closed for the night and then heading to Ontario

latest info

says events scheduled will continue, BUT... decibel limits will be in effect.
a hearing is scheduled for Nov 7,2011,
but PSCA has stated;
No Pro Street Class

No Top Comp Class

All PSCA Bracket/Index/Heads Up Cars must have mufflers

No Roots or Screw Blown combos in any class period.

Late Model Muscle Street Cars Blown (Vortech, Whipple, etc..) Are Legal with mufflers.

like in the past, we all know what this will lead to, puzzles me is this is in the middle of a steel mill, train switching area, wrecking yards, Trucking hub.
time will tell..........

Noise is just the excuse they are using. What the Liberals really want is to take our Hot Rods away and make us all drive a mind numbing Prius.

What a shame. We're really down to one track near the Bay Area, at least a few hours away. Where will people race??

Sounds to me like someone needs to start a movement to get some different elected officials in that town. Racer friendly officials.
We shouldn't forget that the people have the power to change things.

probably right

except they would need big ole limmo's to haul there fat butts around!

I feel we should ban golf courses, as they require to much water,
and require seat belts to be used in golf carts! ! and NO drinking while operating a golf cart!

gotta hit them where it hurts! LOL

That was great, he actually set the wood fence on fire. LOL

About 2000ft east of the track is a bunch of homes probably built during the last decades building boom and they just signed and forgot to read the "oh by the ways"

I have been saying this for awhile, drag racing is on it's death bed. I can think of numerous reasons, from the NHRA having nothing to do with hot rodding and instead only professional racing. To the old guys only caring about round headlight (pre 74) cars when it comes to anti car legislation. To the raids on cruise/meeting spots, underhood inspections, environmentalist whackos.

I'm only 31 and I have seen massive change in the hobby. I rarely ever see modified cars nowadays. Just 10-15 years ago I remember tons of modded 5.0s, muscle cars that weren't just car show queens etc. I never see that where I live.

Last trip to fontana was 8 hours plus however much it cost to get 1 run.
This is why I got another thirdgen and started doing the road course thing.
Theres racing every tuesday night in riverside at Adams time attack, I get more track time in one night than you get in a year of drag racing weekends. Skinnies won't cut it though :)

Not related to adams (adams has nothing to do with the SCCA) but I think the SCCA has been far more proactive in addressing potential noise issues in that they rigidly enforce noise limits and actively measure noise at events. If your car is too loud you get one warning and then you are done for if its not fixed.
I'm not defending these ninnies complaining but I think this is the best option to avoid this crap.

I got more scoop on what's going on. Everytime I ask about it the story is different. Sorry guys. It does sound like a mess.
BTW, it's not the residential housing that is causing this problem.

Who is, the govt?

There is an upholstery shop that is in a business area that is also zoned to allow people to live at the location, out of their shop. I think that section needs to be rezoned.

The big problem with this is the complainers live in a local political voting area, most, if not all, of the street legal racers are not local so the local politicians could care less about us.

And bottom line, we are not even pocket change to the raceway.

a sure fix !

send immigration to visit them, they will all run for the border!
problem fixed!

Donnie...........

How did you find out what ethnic group he is? You're good.

for you being so super intelligent ................its very obvious.

A. drive thru Fontana, what do you see???:frown:
B. upholstery shop..... have you seen a white guy doing upholstery?
C. complaining about racing noise....... who would complain that you "can't hear your mariachi music" :p
D. drive thru southern calif, what do you see? :frown:

while I'd like to claim I'm smart, we all know better than that!
