1984 to 1987 trans. are they the same?

Bruce, Good to see you back to posting on the board.

    servo question

Sounds like you are trying to swap the servo and its apply pin (right things). There may still be an ancient post on the board where Chris outlined how to line up the band and get things back together. IIRC it involved a (long thin?) screwdriver. I've never done it, just read the board...

Basically-- none. GN has one (blue) spring on the smaller weight.

    TV Bellcrank Distance

Cool, makes sense with the expert explanation. Thanks again.

    TV Bellcrank Distance

Thanks Jake... Why do you like them on the shorter end of tolerances? Without a lot of deep thinking (not my forte), it would seem that longer would make for quicker and maybe more TV pressure.

    TV Bellcrank Distance

Do all 2004R TV valves require the same overall travel? Same as 700? The reference diagrams I've located on the net are for the 700, and show a center to center distance of 1.094 to 1.125 throttle shaft to TV pull pin. (Pull pin 23 degrees to the rear of throttle shaft with throttle...

2004r with deep pan and 7004r filter trick?

When you pull the pan and filter from your transmission, you will see the 1/4 inch tube that needs its' ends trimmed inserted into the valve body. It runs front to back along one side, and is held in place by a clip. Cutting 1/4" off each end puts the tube closer to the VB, making more room...

    2004r squeal whine

So what makes a squeal whine noise when it breaks?

    will this tranny work

Without any problems? Not if you like to stick your foot in it. Chart says " B/D 307 Y 2.73" It came with a smaller servo, the wrong speedo gear and a differently calibrated valve body. That said, if you put a brick under the 'GO' pedal, it might get from point 'A' to point 'B' for a...

    200-4r

If the trans is in good shape, the shift kit and bigger servo should put you on the road. If you find crud and need to have it rebuilt, the alto red kit and wider band are nice; a set of steel pump rings and a hardened stator support too. When you order your shift kit you should also get a...

    200-4r

If you plan on highway use, you'll want the wires (lock up converter's solenoid is inside). No computer needed. I'd call CK performance for a shift kit and bigger servo for the 2nd gear band. Should be fine in a light rat rod unless you go wild racing high HP and slicks. My .02-- for...

    Pump. Good or trash?

David, your PM helped Sal... but some of us lurkers (me and the mouse on my desk anyway) would also like to develop a feeling for what will still work. <>

    200-4r OG code trans

The harder I try to communicate, the worse it gets... Jim... "Handle" is ham radio slang for name (as in your screen name, which I recalled wrong). Kevin... the sticky I was aiming you at is this one, which you have undoubtably read. I'd have sworn it was on top. Sticky: ATTENTION...

    200-4r OG code trans

Jim- Sorry about turning your Handle around. Thanks for jumping in.:) Kevin- There are many little things about these transmissions which need to be addressed, and most are torque dependent. (On the other hand, I'd run a wide Alto red band and bigger servo on my wife's station wagon). One...

    200-4r OG code trans

OG valve body isn't recommended for performance: See "Cruiser77" posts on fighting to make one work right. I'd check with CK performance/ Brian/ Jake for a good valve body, shift kit and servo. They'll have other suggestions- depends on your application.

    Towing A Turbo Regal

Evidently it depends on how far and perhaps how fast you are going to tow. There is a post on this board somewhere by a fellow towing basically North to South across the country; something went dry, seized up, and IIRC broke the case. No tranny lube while towing.

    Axle Ratios and Valve Bodies?

Don- The Chrysler 727s of years gone by varied clutch disc count with engine power, but with the 200-4R don't only the builders do that? I was hoping that an AA valve body was an AA and a CZ was a CZ regardless of build year. Bison- CK's book explained the governor part to me:wink: . As...

    Axle Ratios and Valve Bodies?

What differences may be found in valve bodies with a given trans ID (AA, CQ, KC etc.)? Are VB's matched to axle ratio? If so, what changes from a vehicle with a performance (3.42/ 3.73) axle ratio to a car with a ratio in the 2.75-3.05 range? (bogus? ratios used for example only)...
