So what's a good set of valve springs to run in my 84 GN it's basically stock with little mods listed in my signature.........what's the part number for the better valve springs and do they need to be shimmed or are they pretty much just bolt in? A little help please thanks :)

Install hight should be 1.700
.015 shim but every head is a kunt hair different.

Perks up like a meerkat and looks around.

To do the springs correctly, you need to measure the actual installed height, then shim to get the poundage you desire for the valvetrain you're running while verifying clearance both at the retainer, pushrod and coils.

That being said, plenty of people have gotten way with buying "LT1" springs, tossing the cups and slapping the valve covers back on.

X2 on the 980's, love the pull they gave my car as apposed to my tired stock springs!

Lt1 springs only have 85lb seat pressure and die at 5000rpm *junk))))))))
Lt4 spring gives u 100lb seat
And will take u up to 5800 rpm
Not needed for stock cam
But if u ever go with a larger cam u won't have to do it twice
Stay with the comp
980. Or. 981.

I agree, my car ran well with the tired springs but it really woke up to my surprise when I installed the Comp 980 springs.

I have used speedway motors PN 180-071515
which is 100# @1.725 and 280# @1.250 (.475 lift)
coil bind is 1.100
they are $19.99 a set.

the last set I did ( about 4 yrs ago) lowest was 98# and highest was 104#
all at 1.72 installed .( when I put a .020 shim, pressure was 108#)
did not check open pressure.
they come in a plastic bag, with no name on them,
