was wondering what everbody is running for a non stock maf have 4" with slot now, it has issues, going with smaller diameter, Eric recommended running a LS1, don't want to step down to 3" so I was thinking 3.5" but which one to run, stock or aftermarket performance
thanks for the replies

When it comes to the 3.5" LS1 unit (LT1 is the 3"). I guess it's kinda both stock and aftermarket. On one hand it's stock for a Corvette or Z28... but aftermarket for us.

If you need a 3.5" let me know.

I know what you are saying, but I meant ac delco verses granatelli or jet

In that case, stick with Delco. They work and last for hundreds of thousands of miles. Kinda hard to do better than that. Aftermarket 'performance' isn't any more performance, just most expensive for nothing.

I Just changed to the LS1 AC Delco MAF and the idle and driving around is insanely nicer than the factory unit. It took a while forme to changeover...but I wish I would have made that change when I bought the car...

Another vote for the SD chip from Eric @ turbotweak, haven't missed the MAF in years... I see you already have wide band, if you have the scan master and power logger, your all set, Eric would probably let you trade your new chip in, not sure on that.

I'm running the ZO6 MAF, on a 4" RJC pipe. My car idles and drives beautifully.

Got the Delco 85mm MAF as well . Runs Great! No issues here.

Have had all three over the years……..LT1, LS1 & Z-06…..all of em will work well for you!

The best maf is the one not installed on the car.

MaftPro S/D for over 6 years and couldn't be happier.

Just purchased a Cardone MAF ....
I read here in a forum my car won't start if I didn't get a new one. Is it true that the car won't fire if there's a problem with my old unit? Also how does it differ from using a aftermarket KNN air filter? Is it better? What's the best for running a stock V6 turbo vin7 motor? Any info
much appreciated.
Thanks

If you are talking about a reman stock MAS, it is most likely junk right out of the box. How do you know the original one was junk?

AC delco. Forget the others, they are overpriced junk.

Stock Delco all the way... we run the LT1 's down in the 10.50 range all day .. and the idle is smooth as silk

I have upgraded a few cars to the 3.5 " some picked up a smidge ..idle quality same.. cant go wrong with either

If you have to start from scratch and get a filter at the same time, the 3.5" LS1 is the way to go. Oddly enough the 3.5" MAF has less flow area than a 3" MAF pipe. The 3" is even worse obviously.

the parts store stock MAF's are a waste of time and money. The price of admission sucks to have to buy a translator, but once you're done, you're DONE. Taking advantage of a lifetime warranty over and over gets old.

The MAF calibrations programmed into the Translator are based on OEM MAF sensors. I highly recommend not using any aftermarket or modified MAF's. "Sometimes" you can get away with it, but I would only use ACDelco / Delphi MAF's for the best compatibility.

I took my car to get checked out buy a Gn specalist.Set car to stock specs. The car had been sitting for about seven years.Started right up, had a knock for about the first 15 seconds then went away. After he told me I needed a new MAF and everything should be good.Since I got the car back it sat for about 3 weeks.Tried starting it up. .. nothing. I've got gas spark but won't turn over.Could this be the MAF sensor? Which is a better choice ...Cardone or AcDelco?
Much appreciated

first.... It sounds like you need a new 'specialist'.

How do you know you have gas and spark if the engine won't turn over?

And never ever ever ever (ever) put a cardone MAF on a TR. Delco or nothing.

but first I would do a KOEO MAF test with your scan tool. KOEO push the gas pedal down. If the MAF number increase, you have a dead MAF.

You do have a scantool, right?
