Hello,

Yesterday I pulled the oil pan of my th2004r. Oil was clear and didn't smell burned. In the pan I found two plastic parts. I don't know where they from. Any idea?

Thanks for your help and greetings from Germany

It sets the play and can get "crushed" as it appears yours has. Might be time to pull the trans and pull the pump to see about it. It doesn't get better by itself.

I wouldn't run it till the front of the trans is looked at. Inspect the basket thrust surface for wear and be sure the stator support is properly retained to the pump.

Thanks! I pulled it out today. After I cleaned it from outside, I took the stator off and saw what happened. All thrust washer parts are there. The overrun drum has some bigger wear marks where it hit the screws of the stator. No damages on the stator housing. Looks like I need a new overrun drum and the thrust washer. Seems to be a good time to upgrade the transmission. Transmission was rebuild in 2003. Look at my photos. David Husek build me a new converter. I think he will help me with the right parts.

Have a nice weekend

Oh my, I would not look forward to extracting those stator fasteners. I think I would drill the heads off and press out the stator and see if I could get em with a visegrips. I replaced those with hex heads and lock tited em in. Dave will know the sizes. They are metric I do remember that. He should have the different sized "Mickey mouse" washers too.

Looking at the pix again I would try with a bit in the hammer turner thing I have. Just have to support it to take the hit without damaging the pump.

Stator tube itself took a hit too, could probably clean it up/deburr and save it but its cheap enough to just press a new one in.

Those torx screws are 6x1mm. They can be replaced with regular cap screws. Grind slot and use impact driver or air chisel. They will come out. I'd also inspect the gear train up to the center support. It's possible there could be damage with everything thrusting back and forth

Hi,
did a lot of conversation with David Husek in the last days. Sent many photos of my transmission parts. He saw a lot more worn parts than me. He is the specialist. It was a pleasure to work with him. Can't wait to have the parts here.

Greetings from Germany

Got my parts for the transmission some days ago. Started to complete it on Friday last week and had a lot of questions to Dave. Got my answers very quick by email from him on Saturday and Sunday. Dave is the best. Highly recommended. Transmission is ready to go back into the GN next weekend. Looking forward to the first test drive.
