And do you tighten them only once to the spec or go around and hit them all a second time??

ATSG manual says 6 to10 ft./lbs. some Builders suggest slightly more. Use Sealant on the Bolts that hold the shifter cable Bracket. Go back around after a few heat cycles.
 
Which bolts hold the shifter cable bracket?? No bracketry is held on by my aftermarket set up. Are you referring to the 3 that are nearest the front corner on passenger side??

BTW...I put a small light in each threaded hole today looking for one that may break thru into the interior and none of them did. Might be a thin wall condition and a bit of microscopic porosity in the "Shifter Cable Bracket" threads...but no light was leaking into the interior.

I'd go over them after a couple days then once again couple weeks later. 10-12ft lbs
 
Oh...I see now. I have a column shift...no such bracket. Will check those holes again.
