To stud or not to stud...that is the question....

Installing a TE-61 (63?..what the hell did I get again??) What should I use studs on to make the job easier now and also for future removals? And what size if anyone has done them. I have new braided oil lines if that makes a difference in using studs there or not.

Thanks

I've only replaced a turbo once, so take this with a grain of salt.
The mounting bolts weren't bad, but the bolts for the oil return line (think that's the right term) were the biggest pia I've ever had while working on the car.

I read an old post about the drain bolts being a PIA. I think some one had a clearance problem in using studs and ended up using one stud and one bolt. Someone else had luck in putting the drain line on first (I think?) and then putting the turbo on.

I've always set the turbo on the header...don't tighten anything of hook anything up...the studs from the turbo will keep it from falling off...then start the bolts for the oil drain...that way you can tilt the turbo or move it a little to get the bolts started...always has worked for me...
