Sorry for the closeness of the pics but things are pretty crowded down there for me.
Its been a while since I have looked this part over and I see I just used a stiffer and longer spring that I put under screws and hooked to the back of the grille. Not a single problem so far and I have trapped my car at almost 130 MPH with no slapping or any damage.
